Sonar 8.5 Corrupt File
Sonar 8.5 decided it was going to corrupt a file. The sound looped as the program crashed. I had to restart my computer to get the sound to stop. Luckily I had a backup. I thought my memory might be bad cause a similar thing happened to an after effects file. I had to replace the hard drive. I did a windows 7 memory check and the memory seems ok. I'm thinking it could be a bunch of different issues. Could be windows 7 doesn't like my soundcard. (Roland vs-100)Another bad hard drive. Windows is not configured correctly. Something is wrong with the mother board.....ect. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe know of some tests I can do to rule out some issues? I'm a little hesitant to run the file on a different hard drive, considering I had similar issues on a completely different hard drive with a different program. (After Effects)

You might want to post in the computer forum. Or X1 where there's a lot more help ( sometimes) And you should list your specs as that helps everyone a lot. Your kind of issue needs more information to trouble shoot so don't be shy about long winded explanations. Good luck.

Here are the red flags I get in event viewer. The first one I get the most. It's possible it failed cause I tried to use 64 bit. That didn't work so I installed 32-bit. The file was from a 32bit version made on a different computer. specs:Intel Xeon CPU ES-2620 2.00 Ghz 16 GB ram 64 bit operating system Sound card: Roland VS-100 The ScRegSetValueExW call failed for FailureActions with the following error: Access is denied. AFAIK: The Xeon processor is a server CPU. That could be part of the problem.

Why would having a server processor matter?

How many hard drives in your computer? Having too many for your power supply can cause corrupted data. Are you using a RAID configuration? Wondering what the shadow copy is about.. I would do the following: Run a full virus scan Run a disk scan on the c: drive Get CCleaner and run the registry cleaner. Be sure to backup the registry before doing so. I think CCleaner has that option. Re-install Sonar

I hope you've posted your problems on other forums, you need to talk to people who understand this stuff. I have limited experiences with servers. First, they use special versions of Windows. Then things like drivers are not written for that version of windows. . Even the memory modules are special inside a server. They are not set up to be used as a client. You really need to post on the computer forum or a web site dedicated to weird computer issues.
