Can't record with AudioBox 22VSL

I have no clue why, I am not able to record with Sonar 8.5.3.  I open an audio track, select the right inputs/outputs, arm the track, but when I hit Record, I get the message: "Impossible to open the audio device, possible that the audio format is different... (translation from french)"

I am set to 44.1Khz, and the bit depth is @ 16 bits (I can't change it to 24 bits, it's greyed out)

More than that, I cant even play a track if it contains an AUDIO track.  Only MIDI will play...

Any Ideas?

OS: Windows 7 Family premium edition
p.s. I tried the included software Studio One and everything worked OK.  I could record and play midi files altogether

IIRC, the Presonus Audiobox drivers will only work in ASIO mode with Sonar X1d or better. For Sonar 8, you'll have to use WDM/KS mode.

That message very often is due to having different sample rate/ bit depth settings in soundcard and SONAR.
Your post doesn't clearly tell if you've checked they're the same in both places.

Kalle: Yes I did. I am both set to 44.1Khz. One thing is weird, though I can't set it to 24 bits... Dcumpian: This is very surprising! I'll try WDM/KS

Yes, it was. I have the 44VSL, so I experienced some of Presonus' driver issues first hand.

I don't believe that is correct.

I don't believe that is correct.

So, you have a Presonus Audiobox and have used it in ASIO mode with a Sonar version prior to X1d? I can't get it to work, nor can several others on the Presonus forums.
