... and yet more bad news...
When will they learn that we've survived for tens of thousands of years without being told food is bad for us? If it's as bad as they say then how come we're still here? At least they don't mention BECAN

We've only been processing processed meat with the current crop of chemicals and juicy juices for about 30 years. We've only been eating GMO grains and vegetables for about 20. Our meat has been eating GMOs for a bit longer... it hasn't hurt any of the stock animals and most of those critters live to 4 years of age so it must be ok. We've only been over dosing on high fructose corn syrup for about 15 years... all the folks drinking 2 big gulps a day are going to have their liver's explode just like they were life long alcoholics. Most people put up with the lack of food in the food supply because they aren't going to start a garden or go hunting. That's a lame excuse for poisoning yourself with the junk they sell at super markets. Food is the second most important thing in your life... why do so many people acquiesce to dependency on super markets that do a bad job of handling and selling food? Lately, we've been getting into heirloom beans and enjoying the incredibly wide variety of beans that we buy from places that actually sell food. best regards, mike

Processed meat refers to meat that has been preserved by smoking, curing, salting or adding preservatives. Examples include ham, bacon, pastrami and salami, as well as hot dogs and some sausages. Hamburgers and minced meats only count as processed meat if they have been preserved with salt or chemical additives.

While most of these products are marketed as "New & Improved".......BS. Even after all these years of "processed" foods being around, I'm still can't wrap it around my head that we're actually paying extra for things that are grown naturally..... i.e....organic. "Every thing in moderation" That's the line that the poison and additive makers want you to think makes "common sense". If they can keep you below the toxicity level... they have a chance of keeping you as a customer. I have been poisoned at big box restaurant salad bars before. The salad whitener that is routinely sprayed on the lettuce gives me a splitting headache almost immediately. best regards, mike

My favorite and most hearty healthy breakfast is: Becan n Eggs (eggs: organic, cage free). That is 6 rashes of becon (thoroughly cooked) most of the fat cooked out and drained on paper-towels and 4 poached eggs + two slices of toast buttered of course. A little salt and cracked pepper. Love it. The problem for one example is the heavy use of pesticides in foods. So bad that hazmat-suits are required when applying these pesticides. If you want to eat healthier - Follow this guide: Other facts; a lot of the flour used in main staple diets (breads, pasta, cakes, pastries) contains alloxan (toxic glucose analogue) and if pesticides are used? Oh well I guess that's quite a volatile mix. Symptoms: initially, serious digestive issues. Long Term: cancer, diabetes, heart problems. Recommend: Organic unbleached Flour.

Ive been juicing and eatin raw vegetables for two weeks and drop 12 pounds. I pretty much have been eating and juicing as much as I want. Not in moderation at all. The first two days I had a headache and pooped like the dickens. But that's behind me (literally and figuratively) I feel great. Plus I been doing the treadmill daily. Can't wait for spring to run and bike. Plus I am in the Chicago marathon again this year. I agree with Mike. Stay away from processed food. My wife and I plan on planting a big garden this spring. She's been on the same diet as myself and has lost even more weight than myself the last two weeks I am gonna be ready in October for tis marathon!!! Ps... Stay away from Bapu ... Songcraft The problem for one example is the heavy use of pesticides in foods. So bad that hazmat-suits are required when applying these pesticides. There was a day when you could wash the fruits/vegetables and rid yourself of most of the pesticides. Monsanto, one of the leaders in GMO, includes the pesticide in the seed. In fact, some of their GMO seeds are actually patented as pesticides; My relatives, in Germany, say food manufacturers there have to list any GMOs in their products. The United States has no such requirements. Rumsfeld, during the Bush administration had a big hand in stopping the call for GMO listing on food products. Rumsfeld was a former employee of the Monsanto corporation. Scarry stuff.

SteveStrummerUK @McQ Mike, am I remembering correctly that you are a vegetarian? If so, what was the deciding factor in not eating meat - was it the 'cruelty' to animals motivation or the health aspect. Or a mixture. Or something else perhaps? Hi Steve, Two things initially. 1) Family health history led me to learn about nutrition when I was young. I subsequently became horrified to learn how hard it is to acquire meat that is worth digesting. 2) Learning of the "Diet for a Small Planet" philosophy, which is a realization that all farmed meat protein that we eat is supported by an infrastructure that devotes 15-20 lbs of vegetable protein to produce one pound of animal protein. Being aware that a complete protein is available in dairy or vegetable form I came to understand that each meat meal one eats is the equal of 20 good meals that could be shared with the starving people of the world. It's not like my actions have an effect on the situation... but it made, and still makes, sense to me to live in such a way that there is more left for others to share. I have practiced that lifestyle for 37 years now without any distractions. At some point I realized that the cruelty we subject the animals too is beyond anything I want to be personally associated with. I really don't like the fact that most civilized people don't want to know where the farm meat comes from yet they still support the system and love to make fun of people who have made the decision I made. I became a vegetarian for selfish reasons... but now, after many years of reflection, I know that I will never be able to feel ok about selfishly eating an farm raised animal. I still recommend meat. Good clean meat is good wholesome food. I get along great with food hunters and fishermen and we discuss their craft with respect. I'm just not into it any more myself. I'm into whole foods that haven't been messed with. It's hard to find food like that unless you make specific choices about where you shop and how much you pay. For me it's pretty much the 2nd most important thing so I'm willing to do what I do. all the best, mike

Thanks Mike. I rarely eat red meat and processed red meat. Occasionally I eat lean pork steaks, but mostly it's chicken (breast) and fish. Mostly for my health, although I've never much liked eating fat and grease anyway!

Actually after you have a heart attack, meat will not seem to be the same. Afterall, all they do is make it taste good to hook anyone on it. Chicken and fish good enough. Vegetables and Beans, beans, beans. (although lately for protein I been not having more than probably 2-3 oz. of meat a day. Have to get back on a different eating habit. Potatoes are good.

@ Tom. Yes it is scarry, most of that GMO is in barley and corn both widely used in a lot of main staple foods. But I think the heavy use of pesticides is even-worse and like you said, we use to be able to wash our vegetables and fruits but that is not the case anymore. Potatoes for example; being a ground veg literally acts like a sponge soaking up all those chemicals, peeling, washing, scrubbing, rinsing and boiling for 20 minutes will not remove all those chemicals. And already in the past several years or so there's been reports of issues with other food staples such as; Lettuce and in recent findings is suspected with causing thyroid disorders. There's also been recalls on Lettuce and Alfalfa Sprouts. Recommend: Growing salad veggies, fruit (tomatoes) and herbs (Basil, Parsley and Gunga) at home in a greenhouse, easy enough to grow anyone with a doofus thumb can do it. That said; @ Mooch, yes Orgasmic Organic is the way to go! Tonight for dinner I'm baking organic russet potatoes. I like em peeled and boiled for 5 minutes (strain well) then baked at 450F in a large cast iron skillet with good quality organic olive oil. I may also like to toss in some carrots, onions, garlic (whole) and butternut pumpkin. Salt and crack pepper to taste. A very simple dish to make. A very healthy meal. Absolutely freaking delicious :) I believe the future would be brighter if all homes made the indoor greenhouse just as an essential part of the home. And cities with hi-rise residential zones should build glass and steel pyramid vertical farms that uses no pesticides or GMO to supply the local population. Vertical Farms: Large Pyramid shaped buildings will allow more natural light to reach each level of the building. The first two levels are retail (food markets), restaurants and administration. The building Surrounded by natural greenbelt, gardens and outdoor eateries. Thereby no obstruction of sunlight from neighboring hi-rise buildings. Solar and Wind power for the water pumps and additional lighting (when needed.)

People get so obsessed with eating healthy they actually think meat is harmful, margarine is better than butter, soy is better than milk, and eating BBQ meat followed by a swig of whiskey can cause cancer. Ha' certainly nothing wrong with bourbon steak, mash potatoes and green beans for dinner = a typical good hearty, healthy balanced meal.

<news anchor's voice>... This just in: In a stunning reversal, the U.S. Congress just passed a bill outlawing eating. The main senator behind the bill, Senator Barr Elopork, noted that a $10,000,000 study discovered that everyone who eats food dies, and that therefore eating should be outlawed. He also mentioned that he was considering out lawing drinking as well, but that doing so would have adverse consequences on various lawmaker's lifestyles.

I have examined my eating habits and after checking all the things that have been declared "bad" for us over the years I have concluded the only thing I can eat and drink is apples and water. Therefore I am currently drinking 12 pints of cider a day with no other food. I believe this to be an extremely healthy diet and am currently enjoying it very much. Long live the diet.
