Trouble exporting tracks
I am using Music Creator 6 and I am having trouble exporting a track to email. I am a newbie so please understand. I am working on a recording project with a friend out of state the reason for the one track email. I was sent a master track, the song we are working on and that is track 1. Track 2 is the track I laid down. Every time I try to export the track it mixes down then goes to the destination folder. When I open the track in the folder media player opens and there is only a half second of track there. I look at the size of the file and it is only a few kbps. I have tried this many times and still the same results. I have done everything that the manual and videos say to do. Anyone have any ideas....Thanks

Be sure you selected the entire track. The whole track you wish to export should be darker in color to indicate it is selected. From start to finish. I have selected what I thought was the whole track only to find out it was simply the first clip in the track. If you click a few times on the track inspector it will select the entire track.... verify by dragging the project across the screen to see the whole track. Also, you may wish to either use something like BOX.com or dropbox.com to send the wave. Generally waves are too big to go easily into most email inboxes. Another option is to convert it to MP3 for the time you are working on the project and then use the drop box method to send the waves to the person who will be mixing and mastering the project. That is how I work on collabs across the internet.... MP3's for the tracking and waves go to the mixer.

I did try that and still the same thin, a file with only 4 kbps. I have tried it with solo on and off and froze the master track etc. I have a friend that has an older version and he came over and tried to help and was dumbfounded. He says he thinks I'm doing things right.

I almost hate to ask this question but..... what soundcard are you using? Please give some details on the system and the soundcard...... version of MC and the operating system are also helpful things for us to know. Support wanted to see the settings you were using.

The solution was to select the track as Guitarhacker explained how to. In my case I had 3 separate parts in one track. By either double clicking the bottom box of the track inspector or clicking the track it's self and holding Ctrl and clicking the other two I was able to select them for export. I was only clicking the track once to bring it to the inspector and thought that was all I had to do. Also I didn't realize I had to have my interface connected and selected in that track as well so I could hear playback. I thought that was only for recording and not exporting. Now the manual and videos are VERY VAGUE about this but thanks to the help I received here and some help from my old guitar teacher and mentor who now owns a recording studio and has never used cakewalk but knows software well I was able to move on to the next step. I hope this can help someone else down the line. Again Thanks Guitarhacker.

Also note that if you repeatedly click on the track inspector the selection of tracks will cycle through: CLIP / TRACK / ALL TRACKS I use this method since it's faster. No need to hold control and select the various clips in a track. give it a try and see if it would work for you.

in MC 6 remember you have to select the clip/track by using the SELECT tool and clicking ONLY on the header part of the waveform.

Ah, if you have three separate parts of clips in the same track, you can combine all of those by highlighting all and either right click then on the track or find in the menu items on top - bounce to clip - which combines all separate clips into one total track clip.
