Trouble Bouncing Dim Pro To Track

I dont understand what I'm missing here so if someone would be so kind as to explain how to bounce a synth to track I'd appreciate it.

Here's what I've  been doing:

I use the Insert Soft-Synth method.
I don't use Instrument Tracks I opt for the old fashioned way and select insert synth property page and first synth output.

When I was done and satisfied with the part I Ctrl and selected both the MIDI track and the audio track.
I then found the option to bounce to track and applied.

I keep ending up with ALL the tracks in the song being bounced.
I finally went through the project and muted all the tracks except the 2 Dim Pro ones and tried again.

Same thing, the whole project bounced.
The only problem this time was that the resulting bounced track was silent, no wave form, just 2 straight lines.

I very rarely use synths and this is the first time since the X versions came out that I have tried this.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your time.

Mike

In the "Bounce to Track(s)" dialog make sure to set "Source Category" to Tracks

Or simply solo the Dim Pro and the midi track.

I'm really starting to dislike X2.
It just does some strange things.
    Totally random.

Anyway, when I went and opened the project I was going to attempt another bounce down.
But just for the heck of it, before I deleted the last attempt I saw there were waves on the track.
I soloed the track and it was exactly what I wanted???????

I have no idea why the last 3 times I opened the project it was a blank track and now that I came here to ask how to do it, it magically appeared.

Well thanks to all for your help anyway.
And as far as X2 goes I'm thinking I might roll back to 8.5.3.

Well its our remote channeling ability. We can fix problems even if they are far, far away. Even in a different time zone.

I would look at your memory as a bottleneck due to it being too little for a 64 bit OS.

    LOL thanks John.

It's times like these I really wish I had an extra $3000 for a real recording PC.
I may just have to sell the girlfriends car and tell her to hop the bus.

Well I wouldn't go that far. You may be able to get the needed memory for a lot less than a new girlfriend.  You have to look at it from a cost effective perspective.

I'm not so sure it's my PC.
Well not all of it anyway because I ran 8.5.3 and X1 on this machine under 64 bit and never had these issues.
Is X2 that much more strenuous than X1?

In some ways it is and in other ways its not. It has been optimized for Windows 8 with touch with the a patch. That may add some overhead.

I have found that some sample players use a lot of memory, BFD2 for one. You can adjust this.

What happens when there is not as much memory as the OS would like is a lot of paging occurs which can slow down various processes including updating the picture cache.

Are there any settings or 'Windows 7 optimization' that you know of that might help?

Would upgrading to Windows 8 help at all or is my PC simply too slow?

I don't have many 3rd party synths or players installed.
Basically the only thing installed on this PC is X2, EWQLSO, Massive and Scarbee Bass all of which use Kontakt.
And all libraries are on an external HD.

Other than that is Avast, Ccleaner and Auslogics Disc Defrag.
All other bloat-ware that comes with the OS has been deleted.

    That's it

Maybe something in the INI files? Or a 'paging' setting somewhere.

I really want X2 to run smooth. This is the first version of Sonar that wasn't solid for me.

    SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

Nothing as far as the OS to my knowledge. There are a couple of things for Sonar. One is the ThreadSchedulingModel. 0 = same as previous versions. 1 = Default better thread balance. 2 = Additional workers threads. Try each to see which is better.

This goes in the audio config file. I'm trying to think of another tweak but I can't recall one.
