Babs and Sheila's Last Night Out

The ballad of Babs, Sheila, Kyle & Jimmy.   Built out of samples.  Based on a true story.  Somewhat disturbing.

    Great story telling there... that was an interesting tale with a tragic end... sadly, one it seems, our society has become de-sensitized to...
    Great editing, arranging & production... The vocal was very good too... which horn samples..?

    This is a masterpiece.  Not all stories have happy endings, but this song wasn't morose, by any means.  The mix was clear and punchy, and the production, overall, is very professional.  This deserves an A.

    It is so refreshing to hear such story telling in music. It seems to be a rare thing, and even rarer today. Outstanding work.

    A scientist knows more & more about less & less till he knows everything about nothing, while a philosopher knows less & less about more & more till he knows nothing about everything.

    My humblest thanks to you all for these great comments.  I have a personal and intimate acquaintance with this story.  The situation and details have been altered slightly for the sake of better storytelling but the essence of the event is unchanged.  Some other notes:

    The horns are from the 'Soul City' construction kit available from Big Fish Audio.

    I tried to get a few different pros to sing this and wasted some cash in doing so.  They were all excellent singers to be sure but they could not seem to grasp the intent, so to speak, so I was left to do it myself.  I went through many vocal iterations (and considerable self doubt) before arriving at this version.

    There are some who quite dislike this piece (my wife, for example, who generally supports most of my work) so I was hesitant to post it.  Why am I messing around with rap, they wonder. 

    They call it 'rap', not me. I'm certainly no rapper.  I was seeking to find a new space somewhere between rap & rock that clearly was neither one.  Hopefully I succeeded.  Again.... many thanks.
