Making my own audio books

Hello everyone,

I'm making my own audio books, I'm in college so, they are for my own personal use, not going pro or anything remotely like that ... I just learn more when I hear it being read and reading along..

My question is, in my intitial trial of recording I exported the vocal tracks to .wav (can't export to mp3 with my version it seems) and found a free .wav to .mp3 coverter ..

Now these can be very long tracks and Chapter 1 (Part 1) for example in .wav size is 309MB and when converted to mp3 it is 28MB for 30 min ... Can I reduce the size of the files even further?

I have not set any settings, read somewhere you can set the settings when you export.. I want small files that sound a bit decent that I can possibly carry on mobile devices also if I wanted to..

Thanks for any help,
Plank
