New Tune: Somebody Else

It's been a while, cakewalkers... This is my first solid mix in Sonar X-2. (solid for me anyway, I am sure there are plenty of holes to poke in it)

Really good tunes.  Your newest of the three was my favorite. The arrangements are pretty good as well. I did feel the intro to I Will Have My World was pretty long - at first I thought it was an instrumental. You’ve got a great voice - sort like an energized, young version of Neil Diamond (please don’t see this a a negative thing - his voice is quite good and appealing). Clever lyrics for all songs  - quality stuff.

Really good arrangement and song writing. Mix sounds not too bad, but is very low volume for a digital track in which you have significantly greater overhead to play with. Usually when the volume is this low, I look to something like the bass or kick eating up the overhead, but in this case, that does not seem to be the problem, so it may just be a matter of mastering it. Great work. I am impressed.

Excellent vocals my friend.  You know how to deliver.  I can hear Don Henley in there.  Great lyric.  Good song.  Really good song.

This is a terrific song and deserves a big audience.  I had trouble hearing the bass guitar on my end, but everything else was excellent.  The ambience of the drums and your voice was spot on.  Bravo!

    All the best,

Good song, well sung and presented, No crits here, enjoyed that. Thumbs up for the backing vocs, nicely arranged.

Great song. Vocal was great. The instruments were almost all rhythm. Some of the instruments playing fills would really add to the song OMO.

Thanks all for the feedback on the mix/song structure. Some good tips here. I value almost all of the advice I get in this forum. Some serious talent 'round here!

Thanks! I might do one more mix to see if I can bring the bass up a little during the bridge... it seems to get lost in the heavier section. Other than that, I think I'm moving on to the next tune.

Excellent job! - I like the song and production.  Vocals are top notch - like Frank said - very soulful.  I like the sound of the snare.
