Climbing out of the grave - some of my stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/wa...ed&v=uKjlXwVCabI#! Years ago, I put a bunch of projects together, and that particular side-project seemed to be the one I wrote the most for, by far, because there was no question whether I was being too self-consicous in my writing or what... I just wrote and kept putting songs together. I let it flow and tried to combine what I liked into music - old horror movie music, dark electro, funk, disco, Morricone, Pin Ups, and so on... All warped up in one common and funny theme - death. But from a tongue in cheek angle. I wanted it to sound like trance music that you'd have heard playing on an 8-track tape in a car during a 70s Roger Corman horror flick. I think the music was good but I worked in a crappy little rectangle room ( 6 X 12) w/ crappy equipment, and, worst, I thought I could figure it out and make up for that w/ talent still come up w/ decent mixes. That's back when I thought I could actually give people advices on these boards. lol Truth is I couldn't hear a thing, I was not trained to hear a thing and I was just too full of myself anyway. But the ambience was right. :P I still can't give advices, I still work in a crappy room, the monitors are still inexpensive ones (though much better imho), but I'm having fun and I thought I'd share this little thing I put together using only Logic's sampler and the included stuff... Listening to it right now, there's too much reverb - I had set one buss and just sent everything to that long reverb. Anyway, here it is - a tiny little something, much inspired by looping DVD menus.

It is very nice Rain. A pretty cool groove. I like it a lot. Sounds like something that would fit a TV series about things dark and heavy. eg Silent Witness etc.. Or a murder series etc..

Thank a lot Jeff! I don't get much feedback these days as I'm mostly just filling the portfolio and preparing songs for my wife. That's pretty much what I had in mind, simple but w/ lots of texture - kinda like American Horror Story.

Damn. That sucked! (It should have been much longer ;-) Movie background music aside, I can also hear some slammin' guitars coming in as another direction to take. Me likey the groove.
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

The EXS24 and Logic stock sounds are surprisingly very good. A very nice composition, perfect for TV/Film placement. Has an eery dark vibe about it. Well done!

Nice work Rain, although I'm not much into the dark stuff. I thought it was well done. I wish I knew more about making a vid like that.

Thanks guys. :) Starise - I'm sure you could do better than this. These are jpegs that I've created in Photoshop for a couple of PMS songs, years ago. I've simply placed them on a timeline in iMovie (the default free Apple movie editor), entered a duration for each slide, enabled an effect and picked a direction for the movement on each of them. That's as basic as it gets.

This is great stuff...movie music....I've always thought about trying my hand at something like this, but knowing me it would be completely lacking in direction after the first couple of bars, lol....
