Registering Rapture with Sonar X2 Pro????

Okay, so I have Sonar X2 Pro, and everything that comes with it was loaded correctly. For a while I was able to mess around with Rapture, but now I’m getting a request for registration of the program. Whenever I load it as a soft synth a registration notice will pop up, reflecting the serial number but requesting a registration code. The registration code area is whited out, however, and when I click on the “register” button it takes me to the registration page. All of my information is loaded on that page, and when I submit it I get a message saying the program is already registered…WTF?!?......So, what gives?......
I thought Rapture came with Sonar X2 Pro, but as it stands right now Sonar is saying it needs to be registered and Rapture is saying it’s already registered; yet, either way, it’s not useable at the moment. I can visually see everything in rapture, but there’s no sound. I know it’s not my routing because all the other plugs and soft synths are working fine; plus, when I first loaded everything with Sonar Rapture worked fine…..Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Hi !

Rapture is installed at the same time as Sonar (as you probably know),
but the serial number is different. and has to be registered individually.
you have a 30 day trial period before being "forced" to register it.

You might want to try to run Sonar as administrator (right click on SONARPDR.EXE --- properties--RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR), then try to register again?

    I hope that helps !

    Cheers !

Thanks….I’ll attempt the administrator thing, BUT let me point out that Rapture is claiming it’s registered already. So, that’s throwing me off. I’ll request a registration code, and it tells me it’s already registered….man, this is complicated and a PITA.

Okay, I'll try that....what I don't understand is that if it comes with Sonar X2 and it's registered as a package, why make the user go through all this?....It seems so unnecessary.

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't rapture have it's own separate install executable? Also, I think I could be wrong but isn't rapture also a product you can purchase separately?  If so, then it would make sense that it has it's own reg process.  It may come as a bundled pack with Sonar, but still needs it's own process.

There are several threads about this. Do a search, maybe in the Synths forum to find the work around.

I’ll have to go back tonight and double check, but I think Rapture loads with Sonar upon installation. I don’t believe there was a separate CD for that program in the bundles…that’s what I recall anyway.

As for it being available as a separate program and that somehow being the rationale behind it being difficult to register, the same should logically apply to Session Drummer, Breverb and many of the other Cakewalk/Roland sponsored plugins and soft synths, right?....because many of them can be purchased separately.  Yet, they’re not…they load right up just fine…so, I'm not sure I follow this line of reasoning, but if worse comes to worse, I'll get on the phone with a rep. In the meantime, I'll try reloading tonight.

    Thanks again,

because rapture was sold as a separate item in the past. Also the fact you can use it elsewhere (in your other daws).. doing extra coding /testing is more un-necessary vs 1 user taking 1 minute to put in the codes for it :) .. the latter is far quicker.

Yeah but again, a lot of the other plugins and soft synths that come bundled with X2 Pro are also sold separately (Session Drummer, Pro Channel, Breverb, etc.) Actually, I think there’s something like 7 or 8 that are sold separately, but they register with Sonar upon installation. I even registered Rapture when I was initially prompted to do so during my initial installation a couple of months back, and apparently, the registration is showing up on Rapture’s side. The problem is Sonar isn’t recognizing it. So, I’m confused, and I don’t really know what the issue is. Sonar says I need to register, but I already did. Rapture won’t let me register because I already did…..you see the problem here?…..(banging head against the wall)….;  )

Rapture is a separate product just like DimPro and has a separate authentication process. For some reason Cakewalk choose to launch the Rapture install directly from the SONAR installer. I would try running the standalone Rapture synth as administrator to register the product. If that fails you could try the updated Rapture installer that was released to address some problems with the X2/Rapture install process http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013294 then attempt to authenticate the synth

Christopher, who cares about other packaged soft synths.
listen to me for one second.

your x2 installation has 3 serials,
    x2:
    dimension pro:
    Rapture:

    this isn't rocket science.

go look at your emails for serials.

    good luck

If you cannot find the email with your Rapture credentials, check your store account for the "Rapture 1.22" line item.

Those products were bundled with Sonar before being made available separately, whereas Rapture and DimPro have been available for years and well-established long before they became part of the Sonar bundle.  Hence the difference.

I had all the right numbers ....for my X3b
yet, no matter what I did , I couldn't get my Dim Pro or Rapture to register

after running the stand alone Dim Pro and Rapture as administrator , then putting in
the reg numbers ..... actually did the trick...
    I'm super happy ...
thank you , the helpful posters here have really helped me out

In X2 (not X3), I had to contact CW customer service and they sent me this email:

    Hello,
    Thanks for contacting Cakewalk!
Please use the installation patch here: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013294

There was a "patch" required to get a registered copy of Rapture to run in X2 (notice I said X2... in X3 this was not needed).

I just tried the patch. Didn't work. Usually it works when you run it in Admin mode, even that is not working. There is some problem somewhere, I just can't pinpoint.

Here is another suggestion... Just go directly to the cakewalk store/website and My Account and just register Rapture, DimPro, etc. there instead of through the synth.  Ugh, this isn't really that difficult.

Also, about "run as administrator," right click on the icon and then click on Properties; go to the Compatibility tab and check the "Run this program as an administrator" box; you will never have to worry about it again.

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest.

Thanks Living Room Locker but I am stuck at the next step. I have already registered DimPro and Rapture. I get an "Invalid registration" code when I input those reg codes in the plugin.

I am aware of "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.

Ok, I fixed the DimPro registration issue. I have two DimPro 1.5 in my account. 1 from X1 and now another from X3. This time during installation I used the serial # from X1, subsequently used the respective reg code in the first run and voila, it worked.
I will try similar tactics now for Rapture. I think the problem is similar cause I have Rapture 1.0 in my account. May be there is a conflict when it checks for the serial/reg code combination with CW server.

EDIT: Rapture reg. problem fixed by installing Rapture 1.2.1 and then 1.2.2 patch from KB. It brought my DLL to version 1.2.2. Not sure if the 1.2.2 version in X3 has anything extra.
