Is there a midi equivalent of audiosnap's "split beats into clips" feature?

Is there a midi equivalent of audiosnap's "split beats into clips" feature?

Let's say I take a part played on the chimes.  If I select an audio clip I am able to bring up its transient points, bring up the audiosnap window, select "Audiosnap beats into clips", and the clip is cut up into many smaller clips, each containing one hit, with the cuts at the transients/hits.

However, if I try to take a midi file with a chimes part, that option is grayed out. Does anyone happen to know if there is a feature I am missing, which would automatically take a midi file and split it into one small clip for each hit that comprises it?

(I know it would be possible to bounce the midi clip to audio and edit it like that, but for various reasons it would be preferable for me to be able to retain it in midi format.)

Thank you very much.

I don't see how Sonar could tell at the midi level which notes will eventually produce an audio transient and which won't before the midi has been sent to an intrument to make sounds.

For example, there's no difference at the midi level between a note controlling a wind sample and another note controlling a snare hit. The wind note won't produce a transient, but the snare note will.

I think the best you could hope for would be to bounce to audio, produce a slicing 'map' that you could then apply to your midi track. I have no idea if there's a way to do this or not.

Not sure why you would need each note as separated midi clips, couldn't you just edit the midi notes in PRV or Staff views ?
