one thing about take lanes......

I know that take lanes still needs some (some says a lot) work before they are "there", but one thing that I really like is the notefield on each lane.
Great when I'm listening to my misserable takes so I can make notes on what to keep and what to ignore

The problem, I think, is that the lane height cannot be minimized because the field takes so much space.

And also the pull-down width should be narrowed because it only needs to show either "Clips" or "Notes."

I'm with you, RogerH, I like the notefield too.

If I'm tracking a vocalist I keep "take sheets" with the lyric on, and boxes for each take of each line to tick or cross etc,. as I go along.

The notefields alow me to do something similar after the event, particularly if I'm if I'm not going to comp straight away.  It can save a lot of time sifting through them all at a later date.

The take lanes still exhibit a few oddities, but on the whole I like them a lot.

There's plenty I like about them too although several things I'd like to see added/improved.

    Like

    Big mute & solo button
    Easier to rearrange
    Individual take names
    Note field
Removed that hap-hazard "Rebuild function" *(See would like to see)

    Would like to see

Height restrictions - both max and min removed
Lane auto created when dragging in clips
A configurable rebuild function that works in some sort of sensible way
A widget to show all lanes and minimise the track in one go
The show lanes widget moved to the track header

Yes, having the note field can be handy, but do we really need that much space dedicated and frozen? I think it would be fine to have the ability to store large notes but ony the "need" to see the beginning of each without opening it so that we wouldn't have to give up so much space. If this field was smaller it would be easy to stack all the other controls in a single height/row and thusly be able to have smaller minimum footprint....

There is very little that I like about Lanes but I won't dig into that yet again here. I'm sure most of you have seen some of my ranting/posts...

But I will add a feature or two to Karl's list of "Would Like To See" which of course my comment above is one...

How about having the new lanes created during recording automatically show themselves on screen instead of always forcing me to have to re-size the screen to see what I just recorded! <sigh>.... Yet another annoyance to me...

And there's still the "biggie" which Karl I guess doesn't have need for...

A button to display Lanes within a track instead of below a track!! (Where are my Layers when I need them)...

Every time I have to record/edit a new track I get miffed about Lanes all over again and yesterday was such a day...

    <sigh>...

I too for the most part am happy with the direction Lanes are going in.
Once they iron out a few wrinkles they're going to be great for my work flow.
