Progression - recorded Live

Hi,

I had a rare privilege to play live with a group of pianists from an online group called The Piano Cloud at a recital in Milton Keynes (England) last night. I haven't played in front of an audience for over 20 years so I was a bit nervous to say the least!

Anyway, one of the group set up a couple of microphones to record it and so I'd like to share with you one of the pieces I played called Progression.

Because the mics were in the piano it was a very dry recording and so I've added some reverb in Sonar but I'd love some advice on anything else I can do to make the sound more rounded (if needed). There's nothing I can do to go back and fix the performance (and as a perfectionist I know there are mistakes and I really want to fix them ;-) ) but whatever I can do for better sound would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Terry.
PS: It's a free download if you're interested...!

Nice Terry! I wish I could play that well live. I would choke about every second bar to be sure.

Relax, Terry.  This is a lovely recording, and you mixed it well.  I will enjoy listening to this several more times before I go to bed.  The hardest part of producing yourself is to know when enough is enough.

You are quite the player, Terry.  This is full and so peaceful to me until you go "storm". Then it's just absolutely beautiful!   I'll bet the stage is calling you back now.  I wouldn't change a thig with tone or anything else.  I listened on some good monitors and it seemed like you were right here.  IMHO

I saw you mention this on FB and had no idea you'd posted it here too. Congratulations on getting to play...I'm sure they were all impressed, as we are.  You continue to inspire me to do more with my composition skills.  In the meantime I just sit back and listen and enjoy.

    Wow...this is just incredible!!

Really nice performance!  Very moving and dramatic music.  Great dynamics and control.  That must have been an awesome experience.

    Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to listen and for the positive comments.

The evening was a combination of the most nervous I've ever been and the most euphoric feeling I've ever had with my clothes on ;-) and I can't wait to have the opportunity to do it again.

All credit for the sound quality goes to a guy called Oliver Sadie (look him up, he's awesome - https://soundcloud.com/oliversadie) because he set up the mics in the piano and gave me the dry recording - all I did was add some reverb.

    Cheers,
    Terry.
