Waves Silver install - 32 bit - where's the 64 bit stuff? solved (sort of)
Just installed Waves Silver (I think) - nothing listed under 64 bit plugs - way more than 16 modules under 32 bit - did I do something stupid??

Was there an option when you where installing to install 64 bit and 32 bit VST? You usually have to select 64bit, if you want to install 64bit. Did you select it? If you did, check the destination folder. Allot of times it doesn't go into your Cakewalk VST folder, but it makes a new folder in a new location. CJ Cj

I heard there was an option before buying, but didn't see one when I installed

Check it again. If it was a download you installed, check to see if you downloaded the 64bit version. If it was a disk, then insert the disk as there will be 2 different versions, 32 bit and 64bit on it Cj

I'll see if I can check it - the install pages were very confusing - thanks CJ

if your running a 64 bit system one of the first things you should do after installing sonar is create a new plug in file for all your 64 bit plug ins called "vstpluginsx64" then place this folder in C/programfiles/cakewalk/vstpluginsx64 go to plug in manager and make sure its scanning this path by putting the path in the plugin manager. now anytime you install a 64 bit plug in put it in this folder. if you did that with the waves it would be working right now :)

Usually with a WAVES install on a 64bit machine both 64 and 32 bit are installed. The installer doesn't give an option to only install one or the other. You should look for where the 64bit waveshell is installed. This will be called "WaveShell-VST 9.2_x64.dll". (My installed version is 9.2) In most cases this will be installed to Program Files/ Cakewalk/ VST Plug-ins, but if you have other audio software installed this my have gone to another directory. This will show up in the browser inside the Folder Called "vstplugins" (Make sure the audio plug-ins tab is set to "Default All Plug-ins" See links below) Using The Plug-in Browser This KB article may also help My New Plug-ins Don't Show Up In Cakewalk

Thanks for the help guys - I found the x64.dll in programs (x86)\waves\waveshells - added that into my vst scan path - now waveshell shows up in my Add VST Effect menu with all the 32 bits, and my vst menu shows some 32 bit plugs and others that don't show 32 bit or anything (I assume those are the 64 bit ones) - my menu is a mess and badly needs me to set it up cleanly - htanks again!

I had to delete the 32-bit waveshell all together...I haven't had any issues since then.

thanks Frosty - that's a great idea! Did you just dump the file, or do an uninstall?

I just went in to the X86 folder and deleted the Waveshell...I incidentally did away with ALL 32 bit plugs...most of them I don't use any of them anyways.
