Amazing Grace
My Cousin called me a couple days ago and told me my Aunt wanted me to play Amazing Grace at her funeral. She doesn't have long now. I put this together. Give it a quick listen and tell me if it sounds OK or it sucks. does it fit a funeral setting? WIP Amazing Grace

Thanks Joe! I'm going to miss her. She was a Merle Travis fan and about a year ago I recorded a song for her I called Mary Lee. I believe she would have liked Amazing Grace. I'll go with this arrangement.

It's VERY nice Bill. Tasteful - and very touching I must say. Sorry to hear about your aunt.

Very good, and especially depending on the nature of the funeral, your version is about the right tempo, and also with a sense of hope. One comment would be to not play it any faster. If the mood will be real serious/somber, then perhaps a touch slower might be good; if the mood more hopeful, it is perfect. Again, your version is very good. Curiously, I will also be playing Amazing Grace, along with some other hymns at a belated gravesite memorial service for one of my aunts at the end of April, though on mountain dulcimer. It sounds like you had a real good relationship with your aunt, and those types of memories are very precious.

Very tasty and well done version of this timeless classic. While your aunt is still with you, perhaps you could let her hear it. Even if she is not totally conscious or aware. My father in law was in a similar condition for over a week. Family would still set with him and talk and even read scripture to him. Our hope was that even though he could not respond, perhaps he was aware that we were there with him. Take it on an MP3 player with some headphones. Let her hear it. I think she will like it either way.

Thank you all so much for the feedback! I need to get it together now that I have the arrangement. When I come up with a good recording I'll send an mp3 to my Cousin so she can play it for my Aunt. Thanks Herb for the suggestion! I have many memories of her from my early childhood. She will be missed.
