take the plunge??
Hi everyone
I'm currently using Sonar 8.5.3 Producer and I am thinking of moving to X2 Producer, but I am going to check out the trial first, my questions are
1) Will it run okay on my system Dell Inspiron 570 Athalon ii X4 (6144mb ie 2 x 2048 + 2 x 1024) 640 GB hard drive
2) Will 8.5.3 projects run on the full version?
3) If I am happy after the trial and I decide to get the full version, I dont have an internet connection on my DAW can I download it on to my laptop and then on to my DAW?
4) Will the full version run alongside 8.5.3 Producer

I would have thought so. I ran X1 on a E6600 with 4 GB ram. X2 doesn't seem much more CPU hungry, possibly less. 2) Will 8.5.3 projects run on the full version?
Yes they do but it's worth saving them as an X2 version. That's just good practise anyway even though 8.5.3 should open X2 versions okay, less any of the new additions 3) If I am happy after the trial and I decide to get the full version, I dont have an internet connection on my DAW can I download it on to my laptop and then on to my DAW?
Yes. I nearly always do that as my work connection is much quicker than the one I have at home. 4) Will the full version run alongside 8.5.3 Producer
Yes, old versions always co-exist with no problems - or they do for me although 8.5 hasn't been installed on my system since about 2 months after X1 came out. IMHO the X1/X2 versions really are much better than previous versions Thanks

+1 on the yes to all of your questions.
I believe X2a is available for download as a trial version, which is the latest current release.
Please note that the full commercial release will have a bunch more stuff than what you get with the demo version. X2a is a wonderful version, and my productivity is way better than it was for me with 8.5.3 - there are major interface changes for you to get used to, but many many powerful features.

exactly what he says, ive been preaching this since day one. when you open a project from 8.5.3 don't save it in x2 under the same name (over write it) create a new name and do a "save as"

With the exception of the color choices in 8.5, X2 is a much better DAW.
