backwoods They say Samplitude has the best plugins of any DAW. Now we can try/buy them for ourselves. http://pro.magix.com/en/a...audio-plugins.567.html Thanks for the info (already have a collection), I think Cakewalk needs to consider doing the same kind of thing. I'd like to have VST versions of the Prochannel plugs available for other DAW software.

I've downloaded the trial of Samplitude Pro X Suite... I wanted to check out Vandal...but.. After watching the Video, it's like X2 on Steroids...without the PC of course... But they've taken the interface to new levels of awesomeness... Will definitely check it out...

Ok...my initial impressions... Interface....very nice. Workflow...very similar to X2 Metering...better then X2 Vandal....not good...to be fair..I've barely used it but initial impressions...nope... presets sound bad to me.. Haven't gotten into it really....will give more later...

Ok....did some more with it this morning... Then uninstalled... For a $1,000 program the answer is NO. Wouldn't work at all with my Quad Capture Driver... I have the same issue with ALL IK Stand Alones... Every other stand alone that I own, GR5, EZ Keys, Addictive Keys, Addictive Drums, SSD, Toontrack Solo,.....every DAW, Cubase, Sonar, Studio One....everything works fine... Just not IK or Samplitude... That says something to me....how could ALL these other companies get it right... and IK and Magix don't? Anyways, I LOVED the Metering in Samplitude....the interface and skins were kewl... other then that...NOPE..not for me...just MO...

Interesting to hear that the Quad Capture and Samplitude aren't playing nicely together. I picked up a crossgrade deal for Samplitude Pro X at Florida Music Co. a couple of weeks ago for $250.00 or so. I simply love it. The interface is absolutely fantastic - especially if you work in the console view. (Reminds me of SONAR 8.5 crossed with Reaper.) And with the latest update last week, the support for the Mackie MCU and extenders is very powerful. My Frontier Dakota drivers don't seem to have a problem with it though I could be a total opposite type of user than you. I use mostly live instruments.

I got the new update right after I installed it. I LOVED the interface...and the Metering is AMAZING. If it would have worked with the QC...I'd probably have given it a better shake.. But the Magix Asio didn't work well...and the Cubase Generic Asio didn't work well...and the QC didn't work at all... So I bowed out... I wasn't at all impressed with the Vandal Amp Simulator either...when I got it to work.. But, to be fair, I didn't get to really do anything with it...other then fight to get it to work...

More info... I went to use X2 and everytime it opened it crashed... I said..hmmm...it didn't do that before I installed Samplitude... So I checked my Uninstall program list and there were still Some "left behind" Magix drivers and CD/DVD Burning things.. I uninstalled them and LO AND BEHOLD...Sonar opened perfectly.. I find that quite odd.... But situation solved anyways...

I've become very cautious as regards installing anything I wouldn't need on the DAW, especially free trials. In fact I had a similar problem with the licensed version of Acronis that some how got corrupted and messed with the drives, causing Sonar to crash when using Kontakt 5 stuff. I have no clue how the Acronis version got messed up, but I only found out by coincidence and was very happy that this cured Sonar stability issues ... For trials I now use a separate (older) PC; it might not be the best way to try new stuff but I stay on the safe side ...

FYI, I have a Quad Capture and Samplitude ASIO works fine with it when it's plugged into a USB2 port. The only time I had a problem was when I plugged the QC into one of the 'fake' USB3 ports that require a driver. The computer is just a stock i5 kit from Newegg. EDIT: Actually, I'm not at the DAW right now but I seem to recall that there is a selectable driver named something like 'Samplitude ASIO'. I'm not using that one. I'm using the Quad Capture's ASIO driver.

LOL I'm sure if I were back on Win 7 I'd be fine.... but I'm not going backwards....if these companies in this day and age can't get their programs up to date when they get like a year in advance to get up to speed due to MS Beta Testing.. SHAME ON THEM... They always have an excuse as to "why not"...case in point Ik Multi-iApps..

My DAW is Win8 too. It was originally Win7 and I upgraded to Win8. My bet is that you selected the 'Samplitude ASIO' driver rather than the Quad Capture ASIO driver and the OS has nothing to do with it.

Hey, if it works for you ....GREAT... I've been in IT for years and I sure couldn't get it to work.... The QC driver won't work with any of my IK stand alones either... But it works great with everything else...

Sorry, when you mentioned the Cubase driver, I didn't realize you were talking about in Samplitude. Never noticed it. I never worked in IT. I'm just an old semi-retired software developer. Anyhow, you've apparently given up so there is no point in pursuing this.

Anyhow, you've apparently given up so there is no point in pursuing this. No prob dstrenz... I was just clarifying... Yep...I tried every one of them... I've used Asio4All before also..and while it would work...it would give me some crazy feedback issues and other assorted problems... I run X2, Cubase 7, Studio One 2.5, all with no issue on Win 8 using the QC driver...works great... but for some reason, Ik products don't like it, and Samplitude didn't like it... I REALLY would have liked to have given Samplitude a run down...the interface, metering options skins, etc... there were a lot of great features there.... I still want to run DP 8 up the flag pole too...but apparently the Windows version is STILL in the wind somewhere... Even though it was supposed to be released late last year it still, to the best of my knowledge, and I check regularly, hasn't hit the streets...even though they still claim "cross-platform"...

Big thanks Backwoods for the heads up on this. I tried one of the demos and really liked it. Enough to order it. Bad news is they have not got back to me and my support emails aren’t getting answered either. I turned them into PayPal for non delivery last week and they haven't even responded to that. Beware of this one

Thanks Don, they replied to my PayPal claim and asked for my order #, still not resolved. I have a hunch that their emails are being stopped by my internet provider. This has happened once before a few years ago with Nugen audio. Their emails don't get to me and mine to them also get sent back. A rep had to email me my serial number from his home computer. Fortunately I had no issues with their online authorization for that plug, but it has prevented me from doing business with them. As far as the plugs go, I was really impressed with the sound. I have no idea what the actual hardware versions of the plugs they were emulating sound like but as far as expected results, I thought the plugs did their job as well as any Waves, UAD or CW pro channel plugs I have or demoed GUI seems a bit out of date, but that's no real issue for me. Too bad I will have to do without :(
