Maybe not the same as riding a bike but still pretty cool.

I didn't hear him scream!

What a rush. Once he let fly, it must have been an
exhilarating, heart throbbing experience.

If you search you'll find the interview he gave on a US chat show after a similar jump in South Africa got a little too close for comfort. i.e. contact with rock at 100 mph plus.

I'd post a link but it's just bound to offend someone. Search youtube for Jeb Corliss.

A sport where you can only come "close" but no farther (if you want to be around the next day that is).

That was also very mean of him to disturb that poor guy who was just enjoying his baloons.

Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Not sure if this is the clip, it shows that actual accident later on in the interview at around 3:00.  He hits the rock and fractures a few bones. If he hadn't opened out the spans (arm-wings) he could have plummeted and died.

Karl, you're an adrenalin junkie like myself.
I love skydiving but not sure I'd have the gonads to try something like that.
What about you, would you fly balloons like that nut-job was doing?

That's the rush us junkies crave Rick.
It's amazing how much control you actually have while flying/free-falling.

Like I said, I have no problems jumping from an air plane but I don't think I have the courage to do that.
This guy gets awfully close to the ground. That must be one hell of a rush.

That's why I think Karl would try it. It's almost on par with knee dragging on a paved surface in my book.

You know Mike, with some training (if there is such a thing), I think I would do it.  That looks like the holy grail of freedom.  Having said that, I'd probably scream and cry like a little girl the entire time

Mike

Not sure I would at my age now, but 20 years ago - yeah I'd give it a go. I'm interested how you train for something like that though? Jump and hope you work it out I guess.

Non-adrenalin junkies don't 'get' the buzz. I've had conversations with people who'll say things like "You ride a motorbike even though it's dangerous?" to which my answer is "No I ride a motorbike because it's dangerous". As the great hook line for the TT film says "Just because you're breathing, it doesn't mean you're alive"

I don't get the "safe - wrap up in cotton wool type" any more than they get me.
