Peak Meters in X1

Hello, I'm new to X1 and have a question about meters. The top bar of all my meters are flashing red during playback. The green never come close to the top. Even with the track volume turned all the way down. The top bar still flashes red. I don't remember seeing this in Sonar 9. If this a setting that I've missed? Thanks for any help. Aric

It sounds like your meters are displaying RMS only. In that case the peaks are clipping but the RMS value is not. You can change the meters to display peaks, RMS or both, as well as locking the peaks.

You just have to configure the meter settings and everything will be good.

The meters on my midi tracks do this all the time, but not my audio tracks.

Thanks for the response. All the meters are set for peak only. Any other thoughts?

Just checked. It is only my MIDI tracks. Audio tracks seem to be fine. Any reason why the MIDI tracks do this?

They flash 'red' on any note event.  The meter then shows the velocity level at which things are happening.

    (i think )

    All normal.

A rack of noisemakers is not a definitive substitute for creativity. (though it does seem to help)

    ^^^ Spot on!

This caught a few people out but as you say, it's normal behaviour for a Midi track
