audio settings resolved

hi everyone, I had to reload my O/S and of course X-2. when I loaded X1 then X2 in this computer I didn't have to make any adjustment to the audio settings however now i'm having problems. these are the issues ASIO does not work at all and i'm sure it did before but it don't now. what I see is: ASIO will be silent until I reassign to the appropriate H/W output.
when I open DRIVER SETTINGS M-Audio (mobile pre) is not listed and nothing is in the INPUT/OUTPUT drivers. when I change the sound card driver to WDM there is no configuration between the BUFFER SIZE SLIDER and the PLAYBACK QUEUE that seems to work. i.e. the timing is off when I play a riff with EZDrummer. if I set the BUFFER size anything above 5 nothing records. I've set the SLIDER anywhere from all the way to the left then work my way to the center while adjusting the BUFFER QUEUE. i'm wondering if something's up when I had to download the driver for M-Audio Mobile Pre because I recently have been working with a producer who's running Pro-Tools and he made a point of me recording with ASIO. like I said when I loaded X-2 I didn't have to make any changes to whatever the defaults are in X-2.
that's it, I know it's probably impossible for anyone to help with this who is not sitting here but let's see because I've run out of ideas
thanks so much

unplug the pre and remove any instances of it in device manager, making surr show hidden devices is enabled. uninstall the driver. in sonar app data rename aud.ini aud-old.ini or something else. reboot. install the driver software by right clicking and choosing run as administrator. plug in pre. open the pres applet to adjust your settings   run sonar. make sure you dont have asio4all installed. it hangs m-audio devices.

thanks everyone, this is what I did incase anyone else has this problem. when I downloaded the driver for the M-Audio Mobile Pre I used the "latest" software. that wasn't working so I uninstalled it and downloaded an older version and that did the trick. whats annoying is trying to find M-Audios s/w. it seems that Avid has bought or taken over PART of M-Audio because you need to go to Avid to find the driver. what a frustrating pain in the a..s
anyhow, thanks again for all your help.

Pesky M-Audio and drivers, sorry I didnt get to this thread earlier....would have been my first port of call.

    M-Audios "latest" drivers seldom work.
