All tracks keep going "dead" after clicking/unclicking one track "solo"

I'm missing something somewhere .. keep checking through documentation cannot find solution:

Sonar x2
Windows 7
Aria Player

But I'm working on a large 16 track piece. When I "solo"
one track to check on contents; that all goes fine, but after that, I then "unsolo" that track, and suddenly, all tracks become instantly inaudible.

I've tried lots of different things.

(and what's with the "search" command here in the forum; hate to post a new thread if there's already solution(s) but the search feature is not working.)

I already have Edit>preferences>Project Midi>Zero Controllers etc.,  etc., unchecked.

Please advise me: how do I keep/retain the audio-ability of all my tracks? I lose it automatically right if I "solo" one track.

And as long as your here, can you please comment on if there's any known issues with this operation:

I have Finale 2012; create a composition; save it in their *.mus format.
But then I also save it in *.mid format.
I then open Sonar, open the midi file.

It does so, but then I have to manually enter the Aria Player into each track individually every time for each track; a painstakingly tiresome procedure. Is there no global command: "Set all outputs to Aria" (or any other destintation)?

I've always do the Insert>Softsynth>VST>Aria command ... but then I need to always go to the check box beneath IN/OUT>OMNI (at far bottom left-hand corner) and select each track's output from "Microsoft GS Wavetable" to "Aria Player" .. is there no way to command ALL tracks to play Aria?

Thanks greatly for any assistance!!!

    The forum search function blows.

A better way of searching is to use Google.

Enter the following search terms: "site:cakewalk.com" and forum (then add any other search terms, and you will get just results from the Cakewalk Forums)

Well, I’ve figured out this much so far:

I tried switching from Preferences>Audio>Playback and Recording>MME (32-Bit) to ASIO and then back to MME (32-Bit).
But I had to close the program down then and reopen it.

Preferences>MIDI>Instruments>Soundfont Instrument needed to be selected (it had originally been on <Default>.

Zero Controllers When Play stops had to stay unchecked.

But I also must have each track’s solos button pressed on “lit”. I find that especially odd. Shouldn’t it not have to be that way?

    Again, I’m using Sonar X2
Windows 7 on HP HDX 18T laptop
    (Huge memory and speed)
    Aria Player Multi VST x64
Still cannot free up midi channel 12 by the way. Even though I see on the forum (many posts referring to that) and it should be pretty simple … steps I see advised to be taken do not get it free for me.

Have you checked that "Exclusive Solo" is not not being used? That behaviour seems like it is.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Is there a hidden track you have soloed?

Also, there is a global solo/mute off. Not sure where it is in the x series of sonar. But in prior versions it was at the bottom just above the windows task bar. If anything was soloed or muted it shows up there in yellow or red. By clicking you turn off all solo/mute on any soloed/muted tracks.

Oh, I see you've been here a while. You probably already know that.

Also, if your sound card can handle ASIO your better off using ASIO as your driver mode.

    RME Fireface 800

Hi, anvanho. I do not know your software synth, but I've had exactly the same effect with Cakewalk TTS-1: When I solo one instrument, the solo-control lights up on both the instrument track and the TTS track (presumably muting all other instruments). When I unsolo the instrument, the TTS-control stays lit which results in all instrument channels being muted. As the software synth track is usually at the bottom of the track list, it happens often that I enlarge the bottom view window (piano roll, staff etc) and inadvertedly hide the synth track from view. If I unsolo TTS, all channels are back and playing. Fritz
