Alchemy and Sonar X2
I have an odd issue with camel audio's alchemy. If I select any preset, and draw a midi note, the first time I press play, the preset will playback just fine. But after the second time, only one of the 4 elements in the synth will play. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this weird behaviour.

Not sure I'm following you. I have the free version of alchemy only and If I drop a midi file on the track alchemy plays no problem as many times as I have if I loop it. I dragged and used the remix pad and issues. Perhaps you could explain a little better what you are doing especially you mentioned only 1 of the 4 element of the synth will play????

Still running the free version myself. Have used it on two different systems though. A small 1.8 Atom with 2gb ram and the current Xeon with 20gb ram. I did have problems with the first (of course) with drop outs, crackling, and general spiking of the CPU. But I'm not having any of those issues with the larger system. (Although when CPU usage climbs, Alchemy appears to be most responsible.)

That's a different issue. Memory or latency or harddisk issue. The free version I am running is working 100%

I have the full version, and I picked a pad with 3 elements. I drew a 3 measure single note, and set up a 4 measure loop and solo'd the Alchemy track. First time I observe all 3 elements playing, and it's the same on each subsequent play through. It sounds like your scenario is more project dependent, or maybe it's an issue with a particular preset? Are you perhaps using a different remix pad for subsequent plays-thru which could be (possibly) set up for fewer elements?

Right. First of all I guess I should have said sources instead of elements as, obviously, this is about alchemy and not rapture. I'm on version 1.55 by the way, x2a, and I have a focusrite pro24dsp, latest driver. To be sure it's not project specific, I made a test project. Anyway I do remember this issue happening in X1 too. So. I just found a clue as to what happens. It appears to be patch-specific. Take the patch "Mellotron" for example, in the Key section. I draw my midi note, and hit play. Hit spacebar again to stop. At that moment, for some reason the cutoff knob in the perform section instantly goes to zero. I had not noticed that before. I thought some of my sources were getting discarded but no. It's the filter. Since some sources are not tied to the filter, that's what gave me that impression. Now I have to figure out what could possibly be the relation between stopping playback with my space bar and my cutoff performance knob going to zero. Another patch where this happens: "rattle & hum", soundscapes section. I'd say this happens with roughly 1 patch out of 10, but always the same ones. By the way my space bar isn't the culprit as clicking stop in the transport bar does the same thing, and my projects are 24bit 48khz.

Bingo! Thanks a lot. I did have a vague memory of such an option, but couldn't figure out what/where exactly it was. I was looking in the main MIDI section of preferences, but it's in fact located in project>midi. Problem solved.
