Analogue Melodic Hardware Acid

https://soundcloud.com/cr...-in-the-gutter-looking

New tune, it's E Phrygian, has at least 7 chords not including inversions and a key change. Really feel like the composition manual is paying off.

Hmmmm.... well... I will give you my blunt opinion. I found the key change and chord progressions rather ugly. It was also pretty stock arp. After the first minute I would normally have ended the song and moved on, but I forced myself to listen to the end to see if there was some resolution to the dissonance. Not only was there no resolution, you added to it with some odd timings in the last minute that just turned the song chaotic.

Oh well. I guess at least the dissonance was what I was trying to convey. Thanks for persisting with it.

Gotta disagree with my good friend Shad on this one. Sorry Shad.

Loved the melodic bleepy bass that was over the main bass as this reminded me of one of my all-time fave house tracks from the early 90's (Time travel by "New Rhythm"  on the "Strictly Rhythm" label)

    Very atmospheric sounding track

Gotta say i really enjoyed it.

Once upon a time, music like this captured my attention and moved me.  However, in the last 20 years, this has become so ubiquitous that it has become generic.  That being said, generic drugs usually do the job as well as brand name drugs, so this is no less effective for those who like this style of music.  The overall production is polished and balanced.  It has the potential to be good background music for video.  With a little more thump, it could work in a club atmosphere.  This could stand on its own, or it could go to the next level with some additional seasoning.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Well the balance of opinion both here and elsewhere seems to be this track has potential but needs a bit more work on. I think I'll put it to one side for a bit and come back to it.

I always enjoy the quality of the feedback you guys give, no prisoners taken. Cheers guys.

Very nice.  solid wobble that wonders off into differnet directions, and nothing wrong w/ that.  I'm more interested in texture than timing, and this piece is full of surprises.  Well done on a technical level too, even if it doesn't slot into a genre w/o a shoe horn.

Sorry, but I couldn't make it to the end. It was giving me a headache, but this is surely not my genre. It does sound well balanced for what it is, but even so, it just seemed to be repetition on top of repetition. Sorry!

Peace be with you. Blessings, John

Super cool track man, I loved it! It was creepy, atmospheric and very acid. I think you did a great job on this one.

The thing, IMO, that makes it boring is it's lack of direction. I like the emotions your portraying but it just seems to meander along and along.

    The mix is really good.

    Great ideas so kudos there.

Definitely an interesting piece. I found the musical progression to hold my attention, though I agree it lacks some degree of resolution (not a bad thing, of course! :o). My primary critique is with the drum sounds (as a drummer, I'm very picky about drums). I found the clap and hats a bit generic. However, generally I'd say I enjoyed the feel of the track. In short, I agree with above comments that the song is a solid effort, but would benefit from a bit more TLC. Thanks for sharing! :o]

    Check out my music! :]

retro sounds, but super cool tune initially, i like your chord progression. from 3'00 it is inspired, this really sounds like an electro cover of a metal tune in its esoteric nature, i like.
