Will radical free speech kill the internet

Apparently the cyberwar between cyberbunker (a site that is proud to forward anything except child porn and terrorist communications and this definitely includes spam), or its supporters, and spamhaus a site that is dedicated to disrupting spam has reached the point that it is having a measurable effect on internet connectivity. Aside from exploiting a long known vulnerability of the internet, does this indicate that an unfettered internet, where a "free speech"  tantrum can do this kind of damage, is doomed to failure?

If bapu's posting hasn't killed this server, we have nothing to fear from mere DOS attacks.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Free radicals will eventually kill everything. Including themselves, of course.
