Question about stereo speakers for listening pleasure...

I am looking to possibly get some speakers with some good punch and volume with pretty good sound for simply listening to music from my computer...I want to use a pair of outs from my MOTU. Most stereo speakers have bare wire jacks and I'm wondering what I can do to use TRS...I assume there might be speakers made for this? I can't find any so far. I don't have an on board sound card, so a "computer system" is not really possible...any suggestions? I am also trying to reduce the strain I put on my studio monitors...I think I have pushed them a bit because one has a slight buzz in the tweeter, which is a whole other issue I am not thrilled with...suggestions of any kind will help! Thanks fellas!

They will be around my DAW...I also want to be able to A/B them with my mixes too...and right on the high frequencies...I get the listening part and clarity part but I am lost on what equipment I need to make it happen...all suggestions as well as speaker suggestions will help as well...just to give me a starting point...and I'm working on pretty tight budget, so I'm not tryng to get all crazy with this...

I came out of my MAudio FTU with TRS to RCA plugs and ran an RCA cable from there over to the speakers Inputs.  Works AWESOME

If  you want to save some money and have a good amp for monitoring/listening. 
go for an ""Class A" amplifier on ebay.
Class A amplifier integrated circuits  sound relatively neutral.  

TRS to RCA should work ok, it does for me.

As far as class A goes, that might be nice (if we're talking tubes) but I wouldn't say it's a requirement.

Class A runs hot, it's always on max. And good class A tube amps are really expensive.

The bottom rung of higher-end audio is fine, something like NAD or similar. I like British. 35w/ch minimum. 50w and up even better.
Forget big-box stores and be very wary of mass market equipment specs. Be wary of mass market equipment.

You absolutely have to go and audition any speakers in person. Speakers are out there at all sorts of prices that'll make you go "wow", but there are an awful lot more that won't. Go around to several audio stores with your favourite cd's (no mp3s). Go back several times. There are huge differences in sound between speakers that may have nothing to do with price. This will be immediately obvious to you once you a/b a few in a store.

I really like KEF Q-series speakers.

Then treating your room will only make whatever you buy sound even better.

I use a set of Klipsch THX.  Its a satelite with sub system.  Has excellent volume and is a killer speaker for pc or most anything else you put on it.  The hook up is a standard 1/8 jack pc plug that I brought a 1/8 to rca adapter for. From their the standard rca to 1/4 cable to my interface works really well.  So any decent pc setup (wont take up a lot of space either) could work for you. HTH..

I'd much rather spend, say, 1000$ on a good set of monitors and listen to everything on those
than have a set of monitors and a set of hi-fi speakers (which still need an amp) at 500$ each.
