Bug: Move selected MIDI notes between take lanes - help reproduce?

Can someone help reproduce this? It's a bug when trying to move selected MIDI notes to another lane.

1) Create two take lanes, have a MIDI clip in lane 1.
2) Open PRV and select some notes.
3) In track view, try drag selection to lane 2.
4) BUG: The whole clip is moved to lane 2.

Thanks!

I don't think this is a bug.  What you see is the behaviour I would expect.

AFAIK, you've never been able to select notes in the PRV and then drag them int the track view.  It will always drag the clip.  That's what it's meant to do.

    Perhaps try cut/copy/paste.

    Not a bug.

Ah, but you can do this between MIDI tracks, I do it all the time. :)

But with lanes it is potentially even more useful, moving just some notes in the middle of a clip to a separate lane. But with lanes, the whole clip is moved regardless of selection...

My apologies.  I learn something every day.  Thank you.  I had tried this in a simple instrument track, not a MIDI track, and it didn't seem to work - hence my mistake.

I've just tried it in a midi track, though:-

Selected some notes in PRV, went back to track view, dragged them from one lane to another, and only the notes that I selected were moved.  The rest of the clip stayed where it was :)  It worked perfectly.

So, it would appear not to be a global bug.  Thank you for showing me that this was possible.  There is so much to learn in Sonar.

Is there anything special about this clip?  Is it a groove clip or anything?  Is it locked?  Have you tried it with several different clips/tracks, or just one?

I'm just looking for ideas as to why you see this behaviour and I don't.

Yes. If I Shift-drag, the whole clip is moved to lane 2. If I Ctrl-drag, nothing happens. Which version (producer/studio/essential) are you using?

I just double checked - If I Shift+Drag it moves only the notes I selected in PRV, if I Ctrl+Drag it copies just the notes I had selected in PRV.

I'm not sure why you're not seeing the same behaviour.  I have tried it several times on different tracks and between different layers, and it works every time.

Thanks for double-checking. If I can find time I'll contact tech support.
