Fat Fliers - Airlines Charging by Weight

Airline is charging by the weight.

((This is NOT an April Fools Joke)) --
New Article

That's right, all passengers weighed - like meat at a butcher's store then packed in tightly and ready to fly!

   So, what's next?,

Charge bald men extra because their shiners may cause temporary blindness?

Charge tall people extra because there knees will be banging up against a passenger's seat?

Charge extra for babies because their crying is likely to disturb other passengers?

Charge more for people that snore because their pig-like snortling is likely to keep others awake?

A 737 carries 100 passengers on a flight from NYC to Los Angeles.  50% of the passengers weigh y, and and 50% percent weigh x.  It costs 80% less fuel to fly x passengers.  Its costs $8 dollars a mile to fly y passengers.  How much more money does it cost to fly y passengers, in a trip of 2,950 miles?

    (8 x 50) x 2950 = $1,180,000, and $1,180,000 - 80% = $236,000, it costs $944,000 more to fly y passengers

    $944,000

About time. If my luggage is over the allotted weight I have to pay extra. If I send a parcel the cost will largely be determined by size and weight, yet my airline ticket costs the same as the person next to me who because of their size is also occupying half of my seat, so I'm not only even more uncomfortable than normal, but paying for half the other persons flight too.

That said, I'm pretty sure that the price of my ticket won't be going down by the same proportion as the other persons will go up and the fuel saving / tree hugging excuses for restricting luggage etc are hogwash as the real reason that they want passengers to have less luggage is so they can fill the freed-up space with commercial freight items which they can charge someone else for.
