VST error
I am getting an error message saying The following plug-n caused an error during load: RMixSonar_64 and another message with the same error for Rapture64LE. Initially the Rapture plug-in was not working. So, I uninstalled Sonar and rapture and the re-installed. Then is when I started having trouble with RMix. Thanks in advance for your help and knowledge.

have you moved any of the plugin DLL's lately ? especially R Mix ? or add any new lines to the plug in manager ? almost sounds as if its not finding those plug ins. next time you uninstall remove all registry settings as well, I don't know them off hand but there on the cakesite under uninstall, or google. that's what usually retains settings, that and orphaned folders not deleted(cleaned up) after removing sonar. its the only way to get a clean fresh install of sonar.

Thanks Charlie, I haven't moved any plug-ins, this is a fresh install on a new computer. I tried uninstalling Sonar then reboot, then re-install. I agree, it does sound like an registry error. I followed all the paths that are looked at for vst's and everything seems to be there. As far as the registry goes, I could not find any thread that was dealing specifically with my issues. I appreciate your help and I think you are on the right track.

Here is one thread from December with a similar error: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2739549 Also, if you are trying to completely delete an X2 installation for a subsequent re-install. you should get rid of a few things manually, after going through the Control Panel uninstall of Sonar X2: 1. You will want to navigate to wherever the Cakewalk Content folder was installed, the default location is C:\Cakewalk Content. Look for a sub-folder called Sonar X2 Producer and delete that folder. PLEASE NOTE that if you had created any custom track or project templates and such (any content you created that lives in any of the sub-folders here), that you might want to first copy those to some other location so that you can paste them back in after the re-install. 2. You should also delete the application data folder for Sonar X2 Producer, if it exists. Navigate to: 'C:\Users\[You User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk' and delete the 'Sonar X2 Producer' folder if found. 3. There are also 2 registry keys that you should delete. It is recommended that you backup your registry first. The 2 keys to delete are: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X2 4. After following the above steps, you should have removed the guts of X2, while leaving your projects folder intact, as well as other installed components, such as the stand-alone versions of Session Drummer 3, Rapture, Dim Pro, and the plugins. It is also not clear if you are running the base X2, or if you installed the quick fix update, or if you installed the X2a update. I recommend that you install the maintenance, to get you to X2a. X2a addressed something like 250 bugs and other enhancements/adjustments, and may clear up your issues. I hope the above helps, Bob Bone

Oh, and if you had installed Dim Pro, Perfect Space, and Session Drummer 3 in your install of X2, you can skip loading them again - it will speed up the install to skip overlaying the programs and the content, since nothing is affected in those pieces by the uninstall of X2. Bob Bone

Rather than deleting anything before reinstalling from "C:\Cakewalk Content" or your home directory, I would rename the the directories containing the X2 stuff, just as a safety measure. That way you can be assured that customizations will not be lost. In my case, most customization exist in directories outside of the Cakewalk directory tree in their own folders. I use junctions to map the customization directories into the SONAR directory structure. And a good backup is handy too.

Robert, thanks for the info. I followed all of the steps outlined, then installed sonar and Rapture and again the same issues. Hopefully I can figure this out soon. Tracy

Now THAT's good news. Please edit your initial post for this thread and add 'Solved' to the subject line. That will let folks know the problem was resolved so they do not spend a bunch of time trying to get up to speed on something that was fixed. Thanks, Bob Bone
