Question About Running Using X2 Before Uninstalling 8

Hey Guys--

Just got my secret sauce letter from the CW pres and the offer I couldn't resist--so I bought X2 Producer!

Well, I'm in the mixing stage of a project in Sonar 8.3 Producer and I don't want to mess anything up by installing X2. But I would like to start messing with X2 before I finish the project since the layout is so different.

Can you think of anything that might get messed up if I install X2 now and keep using 8.3? I also have jbridge installed in 8.3 FYI.

Thanks all!!

AFAIK installing X2 should not affect 8.5.

Be prepared for quite a change moving to X2, though.  I found Scott G's book invaluable when I moved to X1.  It was well worth the effort, though, for me.

    Razor,

I would do a complete backup first. A disk image backup would be ideal, in case if anything went wrong, it's easy to restore back to the starting point.

Installing X2 to your system together with your existing Sonar 8 should be no problem. I still have X1 in my system, though I seldom start X1 nowadays.

You do not need to install soft synts that requires additional serial number activation that you may already have (Dim Pro, Rapture) as you probably have it upgraded and with additional sound libraries.

YUP - no problems keeping prior versions of Sonar along with X2.

Make sure you download and apply the X2a update.  It fixes a BUNCH of bugs from the regular X2 install.
