Content Club: AAS player crashing when switching to ASIO...

Hello, all. I hope you've all been well (it's been a while). Just looking for some insights on this AAS player thingy and how folks are making out with it. I installed it today with the Kitnetix pack (the Chromophone plug intrigued me but I couldn't afford it so I figured this would be the next best thing. The demo seemed to have some nice bells and stuff which I need).

So here's the deal... I installed and registered it but when I try to switch the standalone to ASIO it crashes. I'll probably end up just using it as a plug in in X2 anyway which I'm assuming will work but wanted to see how others were making out with it and maybe if these samples can be loaded into one of the Cakewalk synths instead.

Also kind of an excuse to say hi... so... hi!

;-)

Hi, cc. Hmm... I wonder why it's crashing on me then. Switching to ASIO shouldn't be that big a deal. The audio set up screen is kind of all over the place to. Its default settings are set to use my onboard sound, then the output device is my Layla (which is not my default card) and the MIDI is set to my Scarlett (which is my default card).

Oh well. I'll have to check it out as a plug in. Might all be moot. I just like to try things out in standalone if it's available just to play around with at first. Cheers.

Hi Beep. I was wondering where you were.

It could be that the stand alone version uses an "after thought" type audio driver interface. In other words it not as robust as a DAWs audio engine.

But one has to ask why are you changing it anyway? Unless you are setting it up for use.

    Best

    Beep,

Only a few things I can think of...not really familiar with the Focusrite Asio..

Make sure the driver you have is current (obvious)
Make sure the sample rate in the program matches the sample rate of the driver
A mismatch caused me not to get ANY output from AAS Player (Player set to 44.1 and QuadCapture Asio set to 96K)

If you're on Win 8, try setting the program to Win 7 Compatibility and make sure you're running as Admin..

Those are the only things I can think of off the top of my head...

Hi, John. I've been in a frenzy of expanding my theory studies (completely dissecting harmonic and melodic minor) and before that digging into mixing/production fundamentals (EQ, compressors, mic'ing, etc...). Not much to do with Sonar so any of my blatherings would have been out of place here except maybe in the Techniques forum.

Anyway I was just trying to head off any problems that might come up with this new plug in. I haven't seen any issues come up from other users in my occasional scan of the forum in regards to this and thought it was odd it wasn't letting me switch to ASIO. Just figured I'd check for known issues here before hamfisting my way to a solution. I do intend to use the samples. I've been looking for some decent bells and percussive/tonal sounds that this pack is supposed to have. If it works I'll be pretty happy. Still need to find a realistic penny whistle somewhere though.

    Hope you've been well.

Thanks. I'll double check all this. I did match the sample rate to my usual settings even though I was just testing it as standalone. It let me do that okay. Just didn't want to switch to ASIO. I'll have to just try it as a plug in which is obviously what I should be doing anyway but I found it odd it gacked out the way it did.

I think MAYBE it was getting confused about the two interface set up I've got going because it was defaulting to the Layla. Actually the more I think about it that probably is what's going on.

And I'm on Win7, my Focusrite drivers are an older version but there have been reports of problems with the latest update and my interface has been working flawlessly so I'm not messing with that until I absolutely need to.

    Cheers, buddy.
