Dwarfs temple

Hey !
I wrote this for a dwarfs religious temple :) Its an audition for a game.Th,e brief was for it to sound dwarfy in the setting of a fantasy game - solemn, strong, proud, warrior like etc.
I used two reverbs, one on the master bus set about 10 percent and one on the guitar.I dont normally do that, but I like the way it gels everything together.I put some multiband compression on afterwards to try and tame the reverb.
Do you think the mix is ok for an audition ? Or should I remove the reverb from the master and apply reverbs and delays to the differant sets of instruments?? Maybe its a bit lazey just putting a reverb on the master lol ???
Tell me what you think !! The track is called dwarfs temple, please follow the link :)

Kev, Reverb is something you have to decide for yourself as you know what you are looking for, but it usually sounds best individually and doesn't have to be used throughout a project unless what you are looking for requires you to do so. I would think in this piece it isn't necessary throughout as it appears to be, but then its your piece and so you have to decide. Others in here would prefer little verb as possible, accept where necessary. Good luck on what ever you decide. Nicely done so far, but less is better.

Peace be with you. Blessings, John

Hi Kev - It's a great piece of music as it stands. My only thoughts are very much agree with John that it's best to apply reverb to individual tracks within the piece rather than on the Master Bus - different instruments need different reverb (particularly drums). Also, thinking Dwarf(!), the overall feel I get from the music is a bit like Moroccan Kasbah rather than dwarf temple. Adding a pounding bass drum (War Drum) would be very dwarfish (!) and perhaps a deep bass chant in the background and an occasional blast of a War Horn! Good luck with the audition.

Yep,it does normally sound best when its applied to individual instruments.I just wanted to see what it what sound like using the same room lol ! But yep maybe its too much, and the sound does feel a bit muddy and distant. Ive stripped the master reverb, and Im trying it with individualy reverbs now. Let u know how I get on :)

    Hi !
Ok,yep for the reverb you and John are both right, and Im trying to sculpt a cleaner sound now using 2 or 3 reverbs on a send instead.
Moroccan Kasbah ? ! Thats interesting :) It must be the scale Im using. I wanted to use this scale to give the feel of a temple so thats why I went for it. It is a bit of a gamble though, because yes at the same time it can create an impression of middle easterness, rather than the effect of a temple. But we'll see :)
I love the idea of the big bass drum, and espically the war horn !!!!!!!! Thats brilliant,it must just give the dwarfs a bit more attitude :)
    Many thanks for you post

Must be the remix I am hearing, not sure you have created an earthy sound.  For me much more middle eastern vibe.

    Thanks for sharing.

Unusual mix, but I would not change anything about it. Unusual song, but I really enjoyed it. The percussion was very creative and worked well. Love the guitar work. Excellent job Kev!

It is pretty cool!  I like the atmosphere of the song.  The strings on 1:17 sounded good (a bit like Kashmir).
