A Little Lag

Hey all.. so I just reformatted and im finally getting everything to work.. however there is one little thing I never noticed before..

when loading a new project, there seems to be around a 3-5 second lag from when the project is loaded to when i can play...

anybody else experience this?

Whats in that project? Each project has different things init and some things may take longer to load than others. That said, it just depends. 3 seconds is not that bad to load a project.

When you open any project, the project needs time to open any v-vocal clips or audio snap clips and soft synths may need to load things into ram. There are many things that can make projects open in 3 to 5 seconds. But that isn't really to slow.

well it's actually an empty project.. no plugins at all aside from the prochannel stuff.. just a default blank project with 1 audio track.. here:

oh and i tried a few different audio drivers just to cancel that out... doesn't seem to be an audio driver issue.  the 3-5 second or so lag is still there

Why did you reformat your hard drive? Maybe the drive still has issues. Im just trying to see the whole picture, to narrow it down for you. Or try to...

Are you sure you set up a hard drive for Audio only? Make sure the C:/program drive has sonar and make sure the audio drive stores your CWP and per project audio files.

I re-formatted because it's been around 6 years since my last re-format and I had like 100 drivers and programs that i don't use lagging up my computer. Thought it was due time lol.

My audio drive is set to:
    D:\+ New Tracks\Audio

D is my music drive while C is my programs drive.

I'll do a hard drive check right now to see if there are any errors. first ill scan D then restart with C

thx CJ... also when i get my video recorder re-installed, ill post a video of what i see.

Man 6 years is pretty old for a C program drive. You may want to retire it. Its probably tired and lagging of old age. I'm mean, look at how the senior citizens drive and walk. There pretty slow. Your hard drive might need to collect social security and maybe a pension.

Your registry may need a cleaning also. Get CCleaner and do a registry clean and a complete pc clean.

Haha that's true it may be only 4 more that I think Hard about it

But would I nee to Clean the registry if I reformatted?  I thought it was reset with a fresh install.

I am going to be turning this pc into a gaming/media center this summer so i'm sure this hd will last tool then.

I am going to build a new system at that time too. So I am taking notes. Hopefully I can still cop a win 7. So afraid of metro
