has horizontal and vertical zooming changed with mouse?

yet another question.... more stuff that seems to be working differently... I remember being able to zoom in and out horizontally and vertically separately with the wheel and some modifier keys "shift control wheel" was vertical while 'control whel was horizontal" am i remembering this wrong?

IIRC, alt+mouse wheel will zoom horizontally and vertically.

To zoom , I use time ruler zoom.  Place mouse cursor in top part of time ruler until cursor changes to magnifying glass, then left click and drag for horizontal zoom, and right click and drag for vertical zoom.

As jb101 says mouse wheel still zooms but it depends on how you set it up. You need to set/change behaviour and modifiers in....

By default, horizontal and vertical mouse wheel scrolling are linked. You can unlink them by choosing Options > Mouse Wheel Zoom Options from the Track view menu and removing the check mark next to the option called Simultaneous Horizontal and Vertical Zoom.

If you don't change that option, you can still zoom with the mouse wheel using the ALT key. If you hover your mouse over a track, that track will be zoomed both horizontally and vertically. If you hover your mouse over the blank space in the Track view background, you'll only get horizontal zooming.

A quick way to zoom independently that's never linked is by using the arrow keys... CTRL+Left/Right arrow to zoom horizontally and CTRL+up/down arrow to zoom vertically.

Scott is right, and that means there's no way you can zoom in/out ALL tracks vertically using the mouse wheel. And, for your information, this Alt mouse-wheel zoom feature inside the clip pane stops working once you do the same on the time ruler (I'm currently waiting for a bug confirmation reply from tech support).

II don't like taking my right hand off the mouse. I find it ha huge interruption in my workflow.

That's also why I re-route all my most used shortcuts to the left hand side of the keyboard. Works FAST

Technically, you don't have to take your right hand off the mouse, since the CTRL key is also located near the arrow keys. Yes, on the right-hand side of the keyboard, though.

And may I assume that you don't use the super-fast Ctrl+Shift+Page Down/Up to move between markers, Ctrl+Page Down/Up to move between bars, and Ctrl+Shift+left/right arrow keys to switch between MultiDock tabs? (the third one can be easily done with the left hand, too)

This is a great addition from X2 (and in fact it's the very reason why I decided to upgrade to X2), however, and sadly, the right-click dragging up/down for horizontal zoom doesn't work in the Drum Grid pane.

yeah i've never liked using the ruler zoom... in FL or Sonar... no i don't use any of those shortcuts, tho now that you mention it, im going to have to re-visit my workflow to see if i could make some new shortcuts for the multidock tabs.. typically i just click from tab to tab, or double click on the midi i want to work on etc, flipping between midi and console.
