Not getting sound - Please help

So I just got my Sonar X2 pro set up and chose an interface (Octa-Capture 10x10).
I've been watching tutorial videos and what not... they've been very helpful in regards to set up and getting myself more familiar with the layout and options but I find the majority of them deal with MIDI. I'm just using a KeyRig 49 and the Rapture x64 software. I still haven't achieved audio from MIDI but I do see my track meter bouncing up and down when I hit the keys so I must be something right.

However, I'm not to worried about MIDI.....
I want to record mostly from mics. I'll be recording drums, guitars, bass, vocals, and who knows what else through different kinds of mics. I'm familiar with what my interface provides with each individual input so that's not an issue. The problem is I cant seem to get any audio at all from my compressor mic I have plugged in.

All I can manage is to directly plug a guitar into the interface and record. That's the furthest I've gotten.
Please help me get this show on the road..

Thanks in advance

and chose an interface (Octa-Capture 10x10).

This does mean you have an Octa Capture doesn't it?

Can you monitor from the Octa Capture itself? (Can you hear the mic through monitors or headphones plugged into the OC without even worrying about Sonar?)

If so, then we look at device to Sonar issues - if not, then we look at mic/device/level issues.

    Yup, I own the Octa-Capture.

And no, it's like the interface doesn't even know the mics there. Thinking back there may have been a bit of activity on the meter when the selected channel was in focus.

So is it possible my levels are to low that sonar doesn't pick it up at all? Mind you, the octa-capture has an auto-sens feature that automatically sets your levels to the perfect settings.

Is it possible I should be using a higher quality cable?

compressor mic I have plugged in.

Condenser mics require 2 things: a preamp and phantom power. Without those, you won't get any sound. The Octa-capture has both so you need to figure out how to use them.

I assume you mean "condenser mic", not "compressor"?
As Beagle mentioned, you need to switch phantom power on.

Are you using ASIO drivers, and is the Octa-Capture selected as recording and playback timing master, as well as the respective ASIO drivers in the I/O drivers-box?

Thanks Daveny5, but my phantom power has been activated, and I know how to use the preamps as well!..

Kalle - yeah, I'm using ASIO, my drivers appear everywhere they're supposed to.
And yeah "condenser" sorry I've been jumping back and forth from working on my bike to recording software so sometimes my terms get mixed up...
As far as I know Sonar is the master right now, I'll try to change that now and get back to you. Thanks!

I know you probably don't want to hear it but I would look at your phantom power a few more times, the symptoms are classic PP issues

"All I can manage is to directly plug a guitar into the interface and record. That's the furthest I've gotten."

Well since you have already recorded your guitar successfully we just need to find that one little step that's being overlooked.
Not familiar with the Octa-Capture but some interfaces have a 'Hi-Z' and 'mic' select button on one or two of their inputs.
Hi-Z is for DI guitar or bass so perhaps you have Hi-Z selected from when you recorded the guitar.
If so switch it back to 'mic' or 'line', what ever the other option is listed as.

And I'm sure you know this but maybe it slipped your mind. You need to arm the track you're recording to in order to get the meters jumping.

Just throwing some ideas out there in hopes it'll lead to the 'DOH!' moment.

It looks like the interface is recognizing that there's a mic plugged in.
The problem persists because the meter is only slightly lit up, even though my SENS knob is at its max.
And still, even with the track armed, it doesn't do anything in sonar, not even the slight movement I see on my Octa-Capture control panel.

Forget Sonar for now, First you need to set up your interface so you can hear the mike in the headphones or monitors and get levels. You say you know how to do this and then you say it's not working.

You might have a bad cable or even the mike, do you have others to try?

Also! I was able to set up my KeyRig 49 with Sonar x2 using Rapture.
I can select it everywhere I should be able to and when I hit the keys my track meter is responding flawlessly.

I arm the track | hit record | play with the keys | stop recording | MIDI clip appears on track | playback shows track meter bouncing/ lighting up.....but there's still no sound!

I have one other chord but no other condenser mics.
I'm saying that I'm familiar with the control panel for my interface and am positive phantom power is on and my mic is in the appropriate input. Hi-Z is not engaged/ or available on my selected input.

So I've got the interface working properly but im still not managing to get sonar to record from my mic.
Is there something I'm missing, as far as I know all of my preferences are set properly

    Using ASIO driver mode
In my vocal track, I am able to select the right input but there's no response from it. This must be a simple fix I'm overlooking.
