The iOS market...
I don't get it. After getting rid of their consumer/pro-sumer divisions last summer, Avid just announced a new audio interface (actually, it's more like a new version of an M-Audio Fast Track). http://www.pro-tools-expe...port-review-to-fo.html What's even stranger is the iOS support - considering that there's no Avid software on that platform and that Avid hardware has pretty much always been known to be a bit temperamental when used w/ other software. In other news, Pro Tools is finally going 64 bits AND - that may get me to reconsider the upgrade - will feature OFFLINE BOUNCE! Welcome to 1999! lol

All CoreAudio interfaces should run on an iPad when no other drivers are required (MOTU being and example that doesn't work because of the CueMix software) and seeing how Pro Tools now can use any audio interface in the world (more or probably less) this isn't too surprising to me. That they finally have added Offline Bounce is welcome for sure! 64 bits is cool, but would still require a huge investment in hardware AFAIK, for the HD users. I still won't buy into it but with all these pro-tools people I work with, we can finally find other crap to argue about at the pub It's about time! So yes AVID, welcome to the, erm... current state of... things... LOL!

has anyone tried any of those devices with an ipad? can you really record several sources without popping/clicking like you would on a tower if the processor isn't powerful enough? I have to think that the processing power of an ipad is no match for a tower. so how can these things be successful?

I does resemble a Fast Track. I hope it doesn't work like one. I have a Fast Track Pro that's about 2 months old sitting in it's box on my closet shelf. Worst interface I've ever used. Not even good as a paperweight, too large and too lite. So there it sits. Guess I should put it on Craigslist but I'd rather not have that bad Karma out there waiting for me. Mike

New 64bit version, Off-line Bounce coming soon? That's what the Easter Bunny said years ago... oh skip hoppideedoodah it's about freaking time Next decade, 'Unlimited Audio and Midi Tracks' WhooooHooo! Unless someone plans to run full HD version for commercial studio work (post production) and the owner(s) don't mind blowing a huge sum of money while they at it, forget it! There are just as equally (or better) DAW's out there at a fraction of the costs that can get the job done. If all stems begin at the same start-time, from thereon it's easy enough to load them into 'any' of several worthy DAW's available and those tracks (stems) should be perfectly lined-up (Sync'd)! For the cost of PTHD, instead could go towards things such as; studio monitor speakers and Presonus 32chn Mixer, 2 large display monitors and better than AVID audio/midi interface with enough change over for a holiday in the Bahamas, or get a brand new CAR.... Sorry, that sounds like a freaking Price is Right segment .
