Last version of UAD software that works with x2a and what software for making help videos
2 (hopefully) quick questions.
Whats the last version of the uad software that works with x2a (64 bit).
What software do people use to make the cool instructional videos that are on you tube. Where they show whats on their computer screen and mouse movements while they narrate over top.

Don't know about the video program...but UAD-2 v6.5.2 is working great on my system.

Interseting. thanks for that info. I just tried installing the new version and the gui's would show up, but no sound processing. I think it's people on the forum have tracked down to having old 32 bit versions installed as well or a registry entry. I deslected everything UA related in my vst scan before I ran it again, but I may have the powered plugins folder hidden somewhere else and it's hitting those. then again I may have to do something drastic like resinstall my OS. No biggie, it's been several years since i did a clean install so it may be a good time to set it up again.

I am using the latest UAD v6.5.2 with SONAR X2a x64 on my Win7 (SP1) x64 DAW with no issues whatsoever as well. If you are using all x64 (UAD plug-ins, OS & DAW app) you need to make sure that SONAR is not scanning any folders with 32bit (x86) UAD plug-ins. You need to be using x64 UAD plug-ins exclusively. Having SONAR scan both x86 & x64 plug-ins will cause severe performance issues. SONAR can only use one or the other and that should be the x64 plug-ins. Ditch the UAD x86 bit-bridged plug-ins and you should be good to go. Either delete them or move them to another folder and don't have SONAR x64 scan them ever. After doing this it would be best if you go into the SONAR plug-in manager and do a "reset" and fresh rescan and you should be all set.
I would also recommend installing and use the "optional" mono (m) UAD plug-ins. For DAW apps like SONAR it is a must, if you want to enjoy the reduced DSP usage you get with using the mono (m) versions. Otherwise, you will always get the full DSP load when using the standard UAD plug-ins on mono tracks/sources.

latest uad version works 100% FINE with X2a 64bit on my win7 64. no issues at all.

Thank you all for the response. That must be the issue. I still have a few 32bit vst plugs that I cant do without right now, so I'm installing an older version of the uad plugins. I havent purchased any of the new ones, so an older install should be fine (I'm just really missing my uad neve bundle and I wanna get this working asap for a "not so serious" recording session of band rehearsal tonight...)

There is a free program called CamStudio to make videos. I haven't used it yet, so I don't know how well it works. http://www.camstudio.org/

All the version 6 UADs have worked flawlessly on my system... currently also using 6.5.2 with Apollo and PCIe cards.

If I am understanding the responses from this forum and the UAD forum, you can have 32 bit vst plugs in your project. They just cannot be UAD 32 bit plugs run along with the UAD 64 bit plugs. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You can bit-bridge non-UAD 32bit plug-ins, but you cannot have both 32bit (x86) and x64 UAD plug-ins being scanned and available in your x64 DAW host. Anybody notice that the message of having non UAD plugs (not the first your last plug) in a signal chain error message has gone away with UAD?

@bored monkey: Thank you for the info on the video software, that is exactly what I was looking for. Some people on the forums are having some problems getting korg nanokontrols working properly with Sonar so I wanted to do a quick install vid to help them out.
I resinstalled version 6.0 and the uad Software. So far so good. It's working great again.
