stereo vs. mono rtecording with my setup?

I am using 8 Studio Edition with a Presonus 44VSL box. I choose the stereo mic 1 option from the drop down menu, but only the 1 side records in mono. What am I doing wrong?

If you are supplying a signal only to channel 1 of the 44VSL then you should be selecting the left mic 1 as the input in SONAR.

A stereo recording requires two signal sources.
The mic inputs are all mono. When you record mono signal on a stereo track, you get a one sided stereo track.

To record stereo with mics you must plugin two mics and select input called something like "1/2 stereo".

This above said assuming 44VSL is like other "normal" interfaces. I don't own one nor have I ever used one.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Select the L or R or 1 or 2 input, but not the stereo input.
