Focusrite 8i6

Close to buying this audio interface for a second work station. I need something with line in's for an outboard preamp and the 8i6 has that, other wise I would look closer at Roland or Presonus. Anyone have this unit and using it with X2 and Window 8 64bit? I would welcome your comments.

Thank You

musicroom - not sure what kind of external preamp you're using. I have a Scarlett 18i6.

One of its great aspects is that it takes an ADAT input from preamps or another audio interface, which allows me to keep a whole bunch of input lines free for other stuff. I use the ADAT input to bring in 8 very clean channels from my other preamp/audio interface.

So that's just a suggestion. Otherwise, I'd just like to say the Focusrite audio interfaces are excellent.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Thanks Lawa - my preamp has analog outs only.

I really like the  presonus gear, but to convert to line in signal I'll need to run the preamp out thru a di and I'm not too keen on that. Focusrite also looks great and in keeping with your comments, I read a lot of good stuff about their products. Plus, they offer the line level inputs I want/need.
On focusrite's website they have drivers for Windows 8, but they don't specify 64 bit like they do for all of the other OS. Trying to find that out before I bag one of these.

I'll just throw in a quick comment here.  I researched USB audio interfaces literally for months before making a decision.  I chose the Scarlett 8i6.  Good choice.
