Alt+Drag cut stops working

Has anyone else notice that the alt+drag/cut stops working on certain tracks. and also alt+drag/cut on multiple tracks on certain songs on certain tracks also will work for a while, then just stop working to never work again on that project. Then the only way to cut is individual highlights and cuts.
