How to eliminate all velocity events in X2 Producer

In X1 I could erase all velocity events in a MIDI track by going into the velocity pane, clicking on the erase tool,
and dragging it across the lines while holding down the mouse button.

In X2, even though I've selected the erase tool and the cursor icon is showing the eraser,
it makes no impact on the velocity lines. Nada.

Am I missing something, or did X2 change how you do it?

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Unless I'm missing something, the velocity event is "attached" to a note. If you delete the velocity you're deleting the note aren't you?

...or erasing the velocity bars sets velocity to zero = mutes the note??? Erasing is not deleting, though, it's lowering the value. I also assume that a note must have a velocity value, even though it's 0, otherwise the note does not exist.

I can't think of a situation when you want to delete velocity - what is the purpose of that?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

You can't delete the velocity without deleting the note.

You can, however, set note velocities to 1, which effectively mutes the note (or at least makes it so quiet that you won't hear it).

To do what you're trying to do, don't use the Erase tool, just use the Smart tool. Then when you click/drag over the velocities, they will change.

Thank you Gentlemen, your kind advice helped me to recall what I did. I was wrong - I was erasing CC7 events, not
the velocity events. I'm so sorry.

But this discussion is helpful, because I imported a MIDI file that originated with Finale, and the velocities are too extreme for the sound library I have for orchestra. Just the slightest increase in the value, and the sampled sound
changes too dramatically (older product, I suppose).

So, I wanted to sort of start over with the velocities. Thanks for helping me sharpen my thinking on this.

I have the older software of the EWQL orchestra, originally sold by NI. I haven't yet upgraded to PLAY, so the velocities really make a huge impact.

I had a value at 86 for Violin, and when I changed the value to 87, the sound was loud, shrill, and painful.

    Back to the drawing board!

Use the velocity widget in the track inspector to adjust it as you wish.

This will also preserve the velocity relationship between notes on that track.
