Wow - that's an impressive delay tool.

I'm going to ponder about getting this.

I don't see how I  could use one one-thousandth of its features, but it is very intriguing.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

This is kinda historic. AFAIK, FF has never held a sale on an individual product before, just bundles.

And the 50% is in addition to whatever discounts you already qualify for as a return customer. For me, that puts Timeless 2 at $56. Not bad for what has to be the ultimate delay plug. I may have to empty my coin jar...

I don't know if the 10% referral discount still applies, but if anyone's considering this who hasn't bought FF stuff before, be sure to let somebody here refer you. You get a 10% discount and the referrer gets a $13 store credit.

    [Correction]
The 50% replaces - rather than adds to - whatever discounts you already qualify for as a return customer.

Yep, and I suppose we can hope that it's the start of a new marketing strategy.  Could it be that Timeless 3 is in the pipeline?  On the other hand, $140 is kind of steep for a delay in the first place.  I can see how they can charge that approximate amount for Pro Q, for example, but I doubt they've sold many delays at the list price.

Timeless 2 is a very flexible piece of gear, but its capabilities are being overshadowed by some new competitors, FXpansion's Bloom being the latest.  So, maybe that's the real reason for the sale.  I'll hope that other FF plugs will come up for the 50% off treatment, but I'm not really expecting such.

$140 is kind of steep for a delay in the first place.

    Steep for me, too.

But consider that the popular SoundToys' Echo Boy has long been considered the "ultimate delay" and it sells for even more AND requires a dongle.

I demoed Timeless 2 and didn't buy it, not just because of the price but mainly because it seemed overly complicated. I'm more drawn to delays such as Audio Damage's Ricochet, which has a plain 'n simple interface and costs $49. But then I'm not much into sound-mangling.

I also looked at FXpansion's Bloom when it came out. Same deal, I think, as Timeless 2: very flexible, great for serious mangling, but too complicated when all you want is a simple echo.

You know what would be great? I'll tell you what would be great: somebody at Cakewalk would rescue the Sonitus Delay from 1999, fix the tempo-sync bugs, make a mono version and add modulation. I'd give 'em fifty bucks for that.

I'm reading all of your suggestions and opinions. I'm poised to pursue what appears to be a good deal for a very powerful delay.

But the Timeless 2 delay demo reminds me of an infomercial. "But wait! There's more!"  Watching the demo it just gets more and more complicated looking. "Thought you'd seen enough?  Now let's make it even more complicated!"

Aside from that objective ribbing on the demo, it is pretty impressive so I'm likely to get it. Unless one of your comments above causes me to rethink as I look into those alternatives mentioned.

Well I just toured through some demos and reviews of all the alternates mentioned above.

It turns out I'm now even more motivated to get the Timeless 2.

As complicated and powerful as it is, it looks like it would be a lot more fun than the alternatives. The UI is more attractive as well.  And the delay sounds I heard from the demo sound much more inviting and intriguing.

So I'm just about over the line. I may join BitFlipper and start searching through my couch cushions for some change to get this.

I've had T2 for a while now but not had much of a chance to put it through its paces. I'm looking forward to manipulating its settings via automation rather than simply using it as a static delay, if you know what I mean...

You're right.  I know that's not their intention, but the video can be intimidating.  The graphic interface looks really cool and well thought out - but it is so "foreign" than what I'm used to.  And the video goes so quickly that I have trouble keeping up with what they are doing.  I would guess that once you get the hang of how they do things graphically it becomes easy?

To those Fabfilter users: Is there some learning curve to the graphical interface?  Or is it pretty easy?   And once you get used to one FF plug is the next one easier to learn?

And - once you start using these plugins do you think that this graphic interface is superior or more intuitive than more conventional interfaces (like Sonitus)?

As you know I'm a Fab fan. Once you suss the basic interface...which is really not that hard (watch Dan Worral's tutorials)...you can operate most all of their plugs with ease. There is definitely a learning curve. But it's not as steep as it appears. And T2 is definitely top tier.  Very powerful.

Have you tried FXExpansions Bloom yet?

I have not, but I did download the manual and skim through it.  Very impressive piece of gear.  I bought FXpansion's Etch for 20 bucks in a no-brainer sale, and it has much the same design philosophy.  FXpansion said that too many of their customer's were majorly PO-ed about the Etch no-brainer, so we won't be seeing that with Bloom.  For twenty bucks, or even twice that, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Like a lot of you, I've got a number of delay/echo plugs (including Timeless 2) ... and just how many of these to you need really?  Bloom is very cool, but the powerful features (and they are impressively so) are not things you'd end up using all that frequently I suspect.

    Guys,

Had always heard about Timeless but never did the trial with a 150 dollar price above my radar.

Complex beyond my current understanding, but downloaded the trail and starting to get with what is under the hood. Not easy to get into, like others have warned.

Bottom line is the sound. Incredible hii end processor. Got lots of echo units, some real good but nothing comes close to this

At $70 heathen American greens. Rest of the world is starving for a few grains of rice, and throws a shroud on my purchase blowing cash on what could keep a family alive for a few more days.

If you can afford it, worth every penny.

    John

The UI is the weak link in their chain. To me, it is counter intuitive, and I own it?

I have a bundle with a bunch of their stuff, and even though the UI is rough? It's like a chick with a really nice ahhh, well she looks really really good from behind? And around front? She's very "well endowed?" So it's all good? And then, you get a peak at the face? And you say to yourself, I think I could get past this based on the other things...
