Nice vocals - but - need some verb or slap delay - something - they are too dry. I like this tune - I don't really think the mix is great. To me - the bass is up too much in the mix - the piano is a bit too much up front. I think you've got a good idea here - nice playing - the mix needs a bit of work.

Thanks for the feedback.  I tweeked it and posted another link

2nd verse starts really echoey but I think that may be a problem in the base track.

This is a good song, and I can hear everything clearly in the mix.  Yet, nothing sounds like it was recorded or performed in the same space, i.e., there's no glue to hold this together.  The lead guitar is very wet which distracts from the fine playing, and makes it sound like it's part of a different song.  The good news is that this can be tweaked to perfection and become a gem.  Perhaps, strip the f/x and get everything up to level, and then play with the f/x.  Good luck!

    All the best,
    Lynn

I dunno when you did your last update, but I just listened to this now at 1:55Pm Eastern, and let me tell you, this sounds bloody fantastic here. Everything sits perfectly for the most part. The only thing I noticed was a bit of crackling on some of the guitar distortion in the right channel, but it sounds like the effect used, and not clipping. The piano is however clipping on the solo. Brilliant.

I agree with foxwolfen, the second mix is just about perfect. Sound great to me.

    Lynn,

Thanks for the feedback.  Glad you like the song.

    Fox & Player.

This is my favorite mix of my own so I really appreciate you liking it.  Probably one of my best performances as well so I am having fun.  Worst song message I've ever recorded but still fun.  Since you guys like the tweeks please indulge me with one more listen and tell me if you think I have spent too much time cooking this.  I did the following:

    1) I rerecorded one of the vocal sections
    2) re recorded a couple sections of the guitar and piano that were too sloppy.  I pulled a post guitar tube distortion and hopefully that dries out the guitar track a bit.
    3) added some buss compression over the instruments
    4) added an SSL buss compressor and a limiter to the main outs
    5) Played around a lot with the vocal mix and hopefully got close to back to where I started.  The thing that is making the vocal sound "out of the mix" is some distortion (via aphex aural exciter).  If I remove the distortion then it settles right into the mix but I don't like the straight vocal on this track and really when through a lot of variations before settling on Aphex.
