Clipping/Distortion Problem...What should I do?

It's DJ CEASE again.  I have X2 Producer edition.  I downloaded an mp3 instrumental from napster that I added vocals to.  But the beat in its original state (without adjusting the volume any on the track 1/master track) bleeds into the red and therefore has a little distortion/clipping.

Is there anything I could do to remedy this?  You guy's help would mean a lot because I really want to use this beat.  Thanks in advance.

Use the gain slider to lower the imported file.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Or if its a specific clip in a track, you can use a gain automation to lower the volume of just that clip.

If the MP3 already has the clipping in it, then lowering the gain will not get rid of it. You would need to use some audio restoration plugins and sometimes the clip will lose sound quality and sometimes you wont be able to get rid of the clipping and sometimes you can. Its determined on a case by case basis.
