Newbee Midi question

I just downloaded a midi file that we will use in our band as keyboard parts. "Smooth" by Santana.  When I try to change the volume with the sliders to remix the tracks nothing seems to stay changed. I've tried everything I know, (which isn't a lot yet), and the volumes still go back to where they were originally. Sorry for such a lame post, but I would appreciate the help..

There is most likely one or more midi events embedded in the tracks that are changing the volume of one or more tracks.

Every time you start the song playing back, any of those events would process and change your volumes.

To change this, you would need to look for midi volume events using the Event List, and when you find them you might consider deleting those events.  Then, you would have the responsibility of setting track volumes, which sounds like what you are wanting.

    Hope that helps,

That's exactly what's happening. Thanks Bob for the info.

Yes - look for it in the views menu & pick 'Event List'.

The Control Changes events will most likely be a different color [orange or pink] than the regular Note On/Note Off events.

You also have the option of just changing that event value right there & adding/deleting others down the line in the song.
