Burning a CD etc.

Hello and I am new here:) I have 7 songs > wave files, to burn on a cd. It's about the volume when playing back the cd. In which manner can I adjust the volume in Sonar, of each song, so that the volume keeps more or less the same when playing back the songs with my "hi-fi stereo setup". (only 2 speakers he). Thanks!     Learn how to use a limiter and set it on the master volume.

    Do you happen to have 'Concrete Limiter' from Cakewalk?

    It is sold separately, I do beilieve.

      Hi jimusic. Nope... So, a limiter is not build in the program? Hard to believe (but ihmo he).

    It depends on the version of SONAR. All versions include Boost11. Studio and Producer also include the Sonitus Compressor and the Sonitus Multiband Compressor which have built-in limiters.

    After you get the best levels you can in Sonar Master, it helps to export the wav files and then bring them into some simple program like Audacity and "Normalize" them to the same levels.
    I also see Nero has a switch that will Normalize during print to CD

    Hello Theokus, I think you are entering the realm of mastering here. There are volumes on this topic. At the very least mastering involves getting all of the songs on an album to sound like they belong together as far as EQ and apparent volume.
     
    Depending on your version Sonar comes with several limiters and compressors. The art is learning how to use them. You can normalize tracks but that will only bring up the volume of each track to max level based on each tracks highest peak. I think what you're after is apparent volume which involves using a compressor and/or limiter.

    My advice is to do a little research and get your head around the basics of compressors and limiters. It may seem daunting at first but it's really not very complicated. You'll be glad you did.

    I guess I got lucky. 

    I picked up the Concrete Limiter from Cake for just $10 - introductory price.

    Now it's quite a bit more. 
    But like mentioned above, there are other tools.


    You may even be able to find a free limiter on line.

    KVR has a list of free plugs.
