TTS-1 missing +

Hi - new computer, Win 7 64 bit, TTS-1 is missing & a few 3rd party plugs won't load like Edirol super Quartet. Any idea why? 32 bit plugs should work in 64 bit programs. Thanks.

Which version of Sonar did you install ?

How did the install go ?

Are you running Sonar as administrator, not just from an administrator account ?

X-1...i'm the only user - do i need to do more to run as administrator? Right click every time I open it? Thanks for the reply. Install seemed to be OK.

Make sure that the plugins you listed are 64bit ready and that you have installed any updates/patches that those plugins need for the 64bit realm.

You also need to make sure you have scanned the 64bit vst folder where the 64bit plugin dll's are resting in

Edirol plugins are not even Win 7-compatible. What OS were you using on your old computer?

I'm not sure as to why, but the normal recommendation is to "run Sonar as administrator" which you can do by either right-clicking or by changing the properties of the exectuable or shortcut to always do it.

    Is TTS-1 present in the ..\Cakewalk\Shared Components\Shared DXi\TTS-1 folder ?

Are you missing any other synths/instruments/plugins ?

Have you patched your X1 with the X1d patch ?

TTS-1 is missing & a few 3rd party plugs won't load like Edirol super Quartet. Any idea why? 32 bit plugs should work in 64 bit programs.

Correction: 32 bit VST plugs should work in 64 bit programs. 32-bit DXi plugins cannot be bridged using the built-in bridge, which is specifically for VSTs (although I've heard that a DX-to-VST wrapper can be used for this purpose).

All 32-bit DX plugins are therefore going to be incompatible with 64-bit SONAR, so if you want to continue using them in a 64-bit environment you'll have to find 64-bit versions of them.

The Edirol Super Quartet, being an older product (maybe no longer supported?) probably doesn't have a 64-bit version available. However, it's likely that it was released as both a DXi and as a VSTi, as many products were around that time. You may be able to re-install it, and perhaps the installer will give you the option of using one or the other.

The TTS-1 does have a 64-bit version that should have been installed with SONAR 64. A re-install of 64-bit SONAR may be in order.

An alternative to consider: run 32-bit SONAR on your new machine for projects that require 32-bit DXi plugins. It can be installed alongside the 64-bit version without problems and will do just fine for projects that don't use large sample libraries.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks...yes it's in the folder, the patch is just for x1 expanded which i don't have, yes the cakewalk fx series seems to be missing. I'll try running as admin & see if makes a difference

I see...my build is 185 not 319 as the link specifies. Does that matter?

Yes, it means you need to apply the X1c patch http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013250 before applying X1d. I am not sure if it will address the TTS-1 issue, that is more likely an original install or permissions issue.

    X2 Reference Guide says,

"Previous versions of SONAR required a user to have Windows Administrator status. This is no
longer the case. Any level of user can now install and run SONAR."

Maybe this made the OP (and me certainly) think that it's not necessary to "run Sonar as administrator."

Also, as I suggested earlier, Edirol synths are no longer supported (Vista was the last compatible OS). I used to use Edirol Orchestra, but I believe there wasn't a VST version.

I, too, used to use Edirol Super Quartet and alas it doesn't even install on Win7. Cakewalk Studio Instruments is a decent replacement IMO (although I prefer Session Drummer for the drums).
