Plug-in Layout Problem - Help!!

I downloaded the demo of Jam Origin's Midi Guitar. But I can't get Sonar to "see" it. Well - sort of. I ran Plug In Manager and scanned plug-ins and it sees it. I then select plug-in properties and select "configure as synth" - as per instructions on the website. Ok, so far so good. Midi Guitar now shows up under VST Instruments, which is what I want. And I can see it in my Plug-In Menu Layout. I save that to be sure it stays there. I close it and re-open it. Yup - still there. Now I go into Sonar and create a new audio track. I right click the fx bin, go to "soft synths" and it's not there. I double check that I'm using the correct layout (I even went back and gave it a unique name to ensure I wasn't somehow using the wrong layout) and it's still not there. I also tried "default - all plugins" - no luck. If I go into the synth rack and search for it, it's not there, either. Just for the heck of it, I go back to the manager and sure enough it still shows up there. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I've never quite run into this before. Thank you!!

Hi, as far as I can read you are doing everything right to make this tool
    work in Sonar.
I can just guess that the Origin midi guitar is also a midi plug-in,
so it is possible that you can "see" it under the midi fx    ?
    Another guess:
You need to open an audio track in your DAW and use MIDI guitar as an instrument. Within the MIDI guitar settings you set the output to a seperate MIDI track. But this you tried and it´s not possible to do,or?

Is this tool working as a standalone in your studio, cause all demo´s I  found seem to show this plug as a standalone!

This plug-in seems to be very revolutionary and has a good sound,
interesting for me if it works!

Sorry that I couldn´t help anymore.

Thanks for taking a stab at it, Pragi. Yes - it does work in standalone mode, and it is pretty cool. But to buy it I have to get it working in Sonar. FYI - I tried it in Studio One and had it working in 3 minutes. But Sonar is my main DAW, so if I can't get it working I probably will pass on purchasing it. But hopefully someone here has already figured this out and can advise me! Thanks again.

I cannot speak to your plugin layout issue but here is an older thread about using MIDI Guitar in SONAR http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2749780 As far as setting up the plugin in addition to changing the plugin to a synth don't forget the necessary registry change (it is detailed in the steps given in the thread).

Thanks, scook. I did indeed see that thread and I did change that registry value. Strange, though - in my situation I can see it in the manager but not in the fx bin. Leads me to think my issue is with Sonar and not the plugin.

Maybe, I can tell you that MIDI Guitar is in my soft synth menu when I right click to add it to the fx bin whether using the "Default All Plug-ins" or the "X2 Producer Effects" (I added to this one) layout. After adding it, it shows up in the synth rack just like one would expect using SONAR X2a 64bit Win 7.

That's what I expect to see, too. It's almost like my synth rack (and fx bin) is looking a different layout menu. I've had that happen in the past. But by going in and re-saving it with a unique name I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. Kinda driving me nuts at the moment. I think I'm going to want to buy this plugin if I can ever get it work right(and without any hassles). Otherwise I may just spend a bit more and get the Fishmam Triple Play. Seems like it would be less headaches.

I re-read your OP. Are you using the plugin manager outside of SONAR? If so, that can be the problem. You should be launching the plugin manager from the SONAR Utilities menu.

Yes - to clarify I am indeed using Sonar's built in plugin-in manger. Thanks, though for helping me brainstorm!
