X2, MIDI CC Values, how to scale...?
Hello... I am dealing with a little problem under X2... I have a wind controller and have recorded a part, now, I'd like to scale the breath CC's values a little lower in some parts... I need to scale the values, not to offset them, to avoid to have 0 values on soft attacks, so, 'mouse' offsetting the selected CC's is not working at all... I am wondering if there is a way to do this with X2, or if there is any MIDI plugin able doing such a little job... Thanks for any help... Alex

Well, you could go into View Event List and make any adjustments there manually. Others may have a better way to do this, but this is what I use. Bob Bone

CAL should be able to handle it. I would look at "Scale Velocity.cal" and "Thin Controller.cal" as examples. What you want is somewhere between those two scripts.

This is how I scale midi velocity. Highlight the velocities you want to scale. Right click in the FX bin and select midi plugins/cakewalk fx/velocity. Then click on the circle over scale. Click on the box just under the circle and input the percentage amount you want to scale to. Finally apply the midi effects (process/apply effect/midi effect) and you are all set. I hope this helps.
The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better. Thanks to all for the replies... We are speaking of hundreds of events here ( they are real time events ), so, no real manual modification is possible... and they are not velocity... I think I will give a look into the Scale Velocity CAL script eventually... thanks to all however...

I'm not in front of X2 right now, but can't you show the Track automation for Breath Controller (Midi CC #2) then you can hightlight the time range and then position the pointer in the top center and move it up and down? It's better described here in the section 'To raise/lower an envelope within a time range'. Edit: Sorry, I can't get URL entries working, but here it is: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR X2&Lang=EN&Req=Automation.11.html#1158712

There already exists a CAL script for this called C-NTROLR.CAL. Here is the description from the comments at the top of the script: ;;; This is a CAL program that allows the user to change data for any ;;; controller using addition or subtaction of a fixed amount, a high ;;; and low boundary, or a percentage. ;;; ;;; NOTE: This program automatically deletes any consecutive duplicate ;;; controller values that are on the same MIDI channel.
