Howard Stern Theme Song contest submission

My buddy approached me at the last minute to put something together.  Using music from an older tune I wrote we hashed something out real fast.  I had to mix it overnight as it was a last minute thing, listening back, I really wish I had more time with the mix, but eh, looks like we didnt win anyway.

drop the # from the link it will work

    I thought it sounded good....

I'm thinking you might have focused a bit more on a hook with Sterns name in it since you were doing vocals.

Rush Limbaugh uses a totally instrumental clip as his music.... Glen Beck does have vocals and you can not miss his name in it.... many times in a 15 second spot. Several other talk shows which I hear from time to time also have a strong hook involving the host's name. The host wants people to hear their name.

I had to listen carefully to hear Howard's name in this....

    just my 2 cents

Herb - Thanks for listen and feedback.  The contest rules were between 30 seconds - 1.5 minutes.  Pretty open, not your usual 30 second or 15 second stinger.  I was told he uses a heavy metal song, so we went that route.

Elix - Thanks for the listen and compliment!

Robbie - Thanks for the <<inappropriate material edited> and <<inappropriate material edited>.  And here I thought you weren't in to brunettes

Pretty wild theme song, but then Stern is pretty wild himself, so I would say at least it fits for him.Nice production and arrangement. Nicely done.

    Peace and blessings, John

Oh I dig the Brunhilda's? As long as the carpet match's the blinds? Or the shudders? Or as long as there's an interior "theme" matching the carpet? Could be the paint? Pictures? Decor? I'm easy...

Heck, even if it doesn't match? I'm probably still in,,, We'll talk about it later? Like "30 seconds later..."

That's a wild tune for sure, which was a real contrast when your next choir intro'd tune came up.

Good job fitting everything into a compressed package.

G Beck also uses some heavy metal music..... over the years he has changed the song from time to time but that "GLENN BECK..." gets repeated many times in the short cuts as well as the longer ones....  sometimes it's just "Beck" repeated....

Gotta remember, you are not writing a song with a story for a show intro... It's a custom jingle for the host.

.... did you get the chance to hear the winning submission? I'd be curious to examine the winner for a little bit of insight  on what they chose.

food for thought if you're gonna write for other things like this.
