2 measure count in before playback
I used the auto accompaniment feature of my keyboard to generate a rhythm performance and recorded it in sonar x2a I would like play back the performance and practice the melody part but would also like a 2 measure count in before sonar starts to playback the performance So far I haven't been able to make that happen In the project preferences metronome section I have count in set for two and playback is checked when I hit the space bar sonar starts the playback immediately what am i missing

You can either start the project on beat 1 measure 2 or you can set the metronome to a pre-count in on playback CJ

I don't see an option for playback count in under the metronome tab. There is a count in option for recording only. You could add a measure or two to the beginning of the project. Rocky

I always start my projects on measure 2. I think it's best to have space before the song starts. The excess can always be cut off when everything is done.

Mostly when there is something I am playing along with and I have to participate in the first notes. Bob Bone

I've always started my songs with at least two blank measures...then use my drums (soft synths or modules) to count the song in starting at measure three. I started doing this back in the day when you had to sync up tape machines with your computer sequencer. This gave the computer time to "catch up" with the time code on the tape machine...or BRC in later years. The habit just stuck and I continue doing this today.

Some softsynths, notably NI Battery 3, don't play the first note properly unless you start playback a little before the first beat. Also, I believe that it is fairly standard to have a short amount of silence before the start of a song. I've just looked at some examples of audio captured from CDs or downloaded from iTunes. Sometimes it's 4 seconds, other songs have under half a second. It's never zero though.

But if you add measures to the front how will you know it's bar 33 and time for a breakdown? Grum.

grumbleweed4162 But if you add measures to the front how will you know it's bar 33 and time for a breakdown? This topic has been discussed several times. My solution that I submitted as a feature request was for the addition a second timeline ruler, i.e. one that could be customised by the user.
